Hi guys I got a Yellow Bellied Slider turtle for my sons Birthday today, Bought a 40litre tank (its a baby turtle), heater and filter. The girl in the shop never mentioned that I'd need a UVB lamp. Are these essential to keeping the turtle alive? and what temp should the water be?
Worried that he might die if I dont get it right immediately
    Any advice very welcome

    Hey Block G,
You'll need a UVB bulb for basking, do you have a basking dock/rock area for him/her to stretch out on? If they don't get the uvb, their shells can collapse later (long term) on or they won't develop properly (short term).
