I am going to new York with my girlfriend for new years eve and am looking for ideas for what to do for the night. We have been advised to stay well away from times square. Does anybody have any suggestions?

My friends out there generally try and find a building to watch the fireworks from! But yeah Times Square is a nightmare, to get to the front you have to get there like 10 or 12 hours before!

Hi there,

What did you end up doing? We're planning on going this year. Looking at buying tickets for the one of the parties instead of going into the pens on the street. Don't fancy standing there for 12hrs...
