Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Shocked at that score.

Uwe Rosler departs Wigan. No shock. Sami Hyypia next probably.

I think that's the 7th Championship change of management.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink new Brewers manager

It would be more than that surely, Leeds and Watford between them must be close to 7 changes.

Yeah I should have specified clubs rather than actual changes! :pac:

Another defeat for the Cobblers last night against neighbours Cambridge United. Mediocrity continues.

Looking at Plymouth vs Portsmouth here. Plymouth are a real good side at this level must add Portsmouth are poor

Good man Jimmy! Super performance from Burton tonight.

Cobblers 1 nil up going into final 5 minutes of FA cup 1st round replay. How else could it end but a 2 - 1 defeat. Concentrating on the league blah de blah.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

Cobblers had a couple of players back from injury today, sneaked a 1 nil win at home to Stevenage, dominated for 70 odd minutes, hung on for grim death at the end. Still, wins a win.

Another win for Jimmy's boys, up to joint top now.

Another win for Birmingham, out of the bottom 3 as well. Team playing with confidence, Rowett is certainly having an effect.

    Some goal...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

Cobblers lost again, away to Southend, and what we have learnt freom the previous few months is that Jordan Archer will never play for Spurs (we have him on loan, in goal and he is not very good (being polite))

Couple of priceless quotes from our manager, filled with inspiration and glory. Wilder:
"It was a tight league two game. I wanted a dour game and that's how it turned out to be for 65-70 minutes."
"We had to look at our away performances and we had to try and do something a bit different. I wanted an ugly game and a grind."

Well they managed zero shots on goal so he must be very proud.

The arse is falling out of Wolves season. 12 goals conceded without reply in last 3 games

They tried to sign a young lad from Northampton for supposedly half a million so I'd say desperation might be setting in.

Heady days for Ipswich now. Delighted for Noel Hunt to get an instant reward for his move South.

I saw on SSN last night that Pat Hoban has already picked up an injury with Oxford and is out until February. Frustrating for the lad!

Birmingham might be improving on the field, off the field it is still as crazy as ever.
The Football League has asked Birmingham City for an explanation of extraordinary and abusive comments made on a supporter’s website by the club’s director, Peter Pannu.

In his two posts on the Often Partisan website Pannu appeared to threaten the site’s proprietor, Daniel Ivery, the co-author of a book, Haircuts and League Cups, covering the club’s tumultuous recent history under the chairman, Carson Yeung, who is serving six years in a Hong Kong prison for money-laundering.

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/03/birmingham-city-football-league-director-peter-pannu-abuse

To cut a long story short, Pannu has been posting anonymously on a fan's blog pretending to be a fan backing Pannu and Yeung's ownership. The writer of the blog finds out Pannu is writing the posts (http://www.oftenpartisan.co.uk/archives/12860/dear-peter-pannu.html). Pannu responds to the post by emails, which are detailed here (http://www.oftenpartisan.co.uk/archives/12862/peter-pannu-his-response.html). Pannu threatens legal action, in response the blog writer threatens to sue Pannu and report him for fraud to the Hong Kong authorities (http://www.oftenpartisan.co.uk/archives/12864/a-statement-regarding-peter-pannu.html).

Well worth a read. Looks no closer to a resolution at Birmingham.

Both will finish top six. Lot of football to be played yet, Xmas games will tell a lot.

Forest have been improving of late after the ten game winless streak and should have got a point at Birmingham. We have the best attack in the division after Derby.
Boro have the best defence in the league and enough goals to see them nick a PO spot. Craig Hignett has left the assistant manager's job but there's no reason to believe it's down to any disharmony in the camp.

Has anyone else seen eidur gudjohnson is due to sign for Bolton and emile Heskey is training with them with a view to signing apparently? I take it Lennon isint thrilled with their striking options so far? Reeling in the years so he is there.

First I heard of it, Gudjohnson would be a terrific signing at this level. Back where he started.
The less said about Heskey the better.

Channel 5 will have the Football League highlights package from next season - it'll be a 9 PM show on Saturday night, which is great for the clubs and Channel 5. BBC screening it at midnight was a joke really.

The channel also has the League Cup highlights again from BBC.

Oh not at all good IMO, BBC's coverage was decent; presenter better than Gary Lineker too. Screening at 9 means too close to Premier League highlights on other channels which will be watched instead. BBC better platform for it after MOTD a realistic spot obviously the lateness doesn't suit everyone but it repeated early Sunday and in the digital age a lot of people have ability to record it.

Sami Hyypia has offered his resignation to Brighton. Probably makes it easier for the board, as they might have been unwilling to sack him so close to Christmas. A change is needed, Brighton have been spiralling downwards. The other teams that were around them who have changed their manager have received a boost. Some decent managers available as well.

Anyone know why no football league show tonight?

Derby and Ipswich both won last night - tight at the top with half a dozen teams who could go up automatically.

Chris Hughton is the new Brighton and Hove Albion manager.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

It is really impossible to predict where any team will finish; Blackpool getting relegated is probably the easiest prediction. A good run and suddenly your in contention, a few losses and you are mid-table. The mid-table teams have to then look over their shoulder as well with some of the teams near the relegation places who are well capable of putting a good run together.

Glad to see Hughton back in management. He knows the division well so we might see Brighton move back up the table.

Neil Adams resigns at Norwich. Only 3 points off the playoffs but their form has been at bit stuttering, and they should be doing better with the squad they have. Mike Phelan favourite to get the job.

Bob Peeters sacked by Charlton. They were 8 points off the bottom and only 10 off the play-off spots, but it seems like if you go on a bad run in the Championship you are sacked. 13 of the Championship clubs have now changed managers this season, some of them have changed them multiple times.

    Charlton are very very boring.

Speaking of bad runs and turnarounds - Wolves have won 4 of their last 5 and drawn the other hardly conceding a goal in that time having shipped them like crazy in that spell before Christmas.

Shame, he only had his birthday yesterday too. Mad just how many changes there have been this season.

Cracking morning's transfer activity at Roots Hall... Jake Cassidy signed on loan from Wolves til the end of the season and Adam Barrett (SUFC legend) almost certainly signed from Gillingham.

Hope so, but wouldn't bet on it. Danny Mills has been slagging off poor Stuart all weekend on the Beeb.

And a big one at that. Atrocious in the first half half tonight. Defense again a shambles. Much better second half but by then the damage was done. Assombalonga could have made 3-3 it but missed a sitter.

With determination like that they'll struggle in League 1.

Another big win for Northampton, winning 5 1 away from home with 10 men for nearly an hour.
