Similar weight but a little younger. Took a week :)
You won't know until you try x

Ps that's really not the nicest comment by a friend?

Not impossible but it depends on each individual.. I was 14 stone at my heaviest and for me that was bad.. I got down to 10 and half to 11 for some time then cycles normalised and I got pregnant using clomid.. I have pcos and it made me really infertile

    There is always hope!

Pregnancy will be harder on the body at 17 stone if you do conceive. I struggle with my weight and have been heavier than you are now, but if you're planning a pregnancy I would suggest you do try to lose some weight first. I know how hard if is but a couple of stone will make a huge difference to the risks to both you and you're baby.

EDIT: but your friend was cruel to say it like that.

Actually that's something that's nearly more important than weight, my cycles were regular and that appears to be a big indicator. I knew when I was ovulating that week. I had been tracking for two months

In that case hun just give it a try!

There is a "plussizepregnancy" private group on one of the worlds most popular entertainment, social networking service and news website. I'm a member and they are a wonderful group. Might be an idea if you want some support from others who are in the same boat

Being over or underweight can make trying to conceive more difficult. Also at that weight and being pregnant it can cause more complication later on, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

I have PCOS and lost a couple of stone, and then conceived very quickly.

If I was you I'd consider losing some weight for health benefits and just a healthy pregnancy. I wish I had of been a lot lighter when I was pregnant because I did end up with a lot of complication.

Is your friend a fertility specialist with your cycle history, blood results, HSG x-ray and semen analysis in front of her?

No? then dont mind her, seriously. :)

While weight can sometimes be a factor, so can many other things. Or you might be absolutely fine in that way. You dont know until you give it your best shot. None of us do.

By all means, try and become as healthy as possible and lose weight if you can, but keep in mind TTC can get very stressful for a couple, you dont need stupid opinions from friends adding to that stress.

Hi I am in a similar situation diagnosed with pcos in 2010 but thought nothing of it as I was only 23 and tbh having children wasn't on the agenda i also figured i didn't need to stay on the pill because a) why would i encourage my monthlys its only a false period anyway and b) i could never remember to take it anyway and c) I'm a smoker so the side effects scared me! ( yes I'm well aware if the irony here).
Anyway had a gynae consult today randomly sent out to me btw i was quite content in my bubble and i was told to take my pill, lose weight and if i want kids try for a year and if that doesn't work get my gp to refer me back to gynaecology ..... I'm getting married next yr, weigh 16st and the rest and I'm totally freaking out! I always figured i would find it hard to have children but never really considered i wouldn't!
Sorry for the excessively long post but I just had to get it off my chest no one else seems to understand!
P.s does anyone else wish there was actual support meetings to go to I'd love to meet people who get it!

Sorry to hear about your appointment I was there before and I was at the time average weight so no way to fix I just didn't have cycles or ovulate. Unfortunately Ireland's crap when it comes to pcos..
But anything can happen in that year.. They can't say you won't get pregnant

I found this really good; mihabodytecdublin.com (lost about a stone doing it) & they usually give free trials.

I also found the 30 day challenges to be helpful. Just search google images; arms, abs etc.
If nothing else they help get you into a routines.
