Looks like more bad news for Inda as his Ohio trade delegation (& delegates) in 2012 got embroiled in a dirty political campaign by opponents to Governor candidate Ed Fitzgerald, from here and here.

Joanne Grehan is closely connected to FG and terrible publicity for the council & Inda.

Pretty ripping allegations all the same.

    American politics is so low.....

    What allegations?

A member of Inda's travelling party got lost at 4.30am alone with a future governor candidate and it is reported that something inappropriate occurred.

This has been refuted by Peter Hynes and Joanne Grehan, hence the allegation.

whoever reported to police that two adults were in a car together must have had a very sheltered life, or else was working for Fitzgerald's political opponents.

    Bottle of smoke imho.

She was a political appointment in all but name.....close ties with FG. Plus she was on a trip with Inda.

    American politics is so low.

One thing that is intriguing is that even if someone called the cops there had to have been a couple of minutes until they arrived. Why were they pulled over in a car park at 4.30am if they were lost?

Sunday papers are going to go to town on this tomorrow......

You claimed that it was reported that something untoward happened. So far, all I've seen reported is denials that anything untoward occurred. In other words, there's nothing to the story but innuendo, to which you are continuing to contribute.

It's hypocritical in the extreme to describe American politics as "low" while engaging in this sort of behaviour yourself.

My reason for posting is that it is interesting and of relevance. It is local to Mayo. Given that it involves public and civic officials representing the people of Mayo/Ireland makes it all the more significant. Adverse publicity of this kind is not helpful to the council or the government. Plus we don't have the full picture of what happened on that trip. Nor will we.

The fact that I am intrigued by a different political culture than what's in Ireland and branded a hypocrite for describing it as low is far wide of the mark. Given that I have confirmed on numerous occasions that I have no connection to any political party makes your comments misplaced.

I am not going to comment on this again until the circumstances are clearer.

Wow nasty campaign, nasty articles and nasty thread. Unless one of the party was doing something illegal it's no concern of anyone else's why they were parked, and it's clear that wasn't the case. This smacks of News of the World, type hounding for a story.

Its a nothing story that papers really shouldn't be bothering their arse printing.

    Its lazy journalism.

Journalist; Finisklin have you ever slept with a goat at Halloween?

Finisklin : no of couse not !

Headline Finisklin denies sleeping with goat at Halloween party.

Lazy gutter press, but its all true so Finisklin cant do anything about it.

Ive no affiliation to any party but hate lazy journalism.
