I saw people on here saying they refused to use parcel motel instead preferring a competitor not too long ago. Just curious why? I have to order something that's UK only delivery and still have a few euro in my account with them...

DPD Parcel Wizard delivers direct to your door for €3.85 so maybe they're too lazy to go to the locker like me? :D

Or a collection point of your choosing, AND they look after the parcels better imo. Way better service :)

Bit of a strange one, but does anyone know a place around Cork city that would cut a piece out of my PC case? A small 3-4cm piece is stopping me from putting in a 970

Would that do the job? I'm lazy and was wondering if there's anywhere that does it. Just bought a 970 this evening only to find out it's a couple CMs too long!

What part of it is actually blocking the card? I hate cases that don't make accomodation for larger cards. It's such an easy design to avoid but they still make some ATX/MATX cases where the hard drive bays block many cards, not necessarily budget cases either.

Depends on what case it is what part is blocking it but some of the cheaper ones you can literally tear metal away from cheap riveted joins using a good pliers. I've done it many a time. Otherwise you can saw two cuts using a decent hacksaw and use a pliers to peel the metal back either.

I recall someone claiming they basically turn off their customer support from November until mid-January, so if stuff goes wrong in the Christmas rush they don't want to hear about it.

Not sure if that's the biggest issue with them or not though.

It's a small metal square that's attached to the metal between CD drive and HDD bays...tbh completely pointless piece of metal. Tried a butter knife but only got so far before I gave up

I cut a notch out of a case using a junior hacksaw, it had a slide out motherboard tray, and the cooler in the graphics card wouldn't clear the open when sliding back in. Worked fine, if a little rough, was hidden by the tray on the way back in.

Although, the case was aluminium, which is easier to cut than steel.

    Please don't do these things:
    1. Posts linking to illegal or inappropriate material (warez, porn etc.)
    2. Commercial or site spamming, shilling etc.
    3. Abusive posts, flaming, baiting etc.
    4. Blatently dragging threads off-topic
    5. Attention-seeking, particularly when you're not funny
    6. Please don't chain-post garbage in the middle of a thread. If you want to have a conversation with someone, PM them or go on IRC.
    7. Feel free to let others know about your fun thing/event in response to a request for something, but starting a thread to pimp your event is not allowed. This goes for ANY type of event. This is a discussion board, not a poster wall. For music events, read the Gigs\Events forum charter and see if you should post there instead.
    8. Do not post anything potentially defamatory or libellous about businesses or people. 'Free Speech' is vetoed by the welfare of Boards.ie.
For instance do not post anti-recommendations, if you don't like a place then do not post here to let people know.
Service/food experiences are too subjective to be reliable and frankly, we don't know you well enough to know your reasons to put a place down.
If you have a problem with a business and need advice, please use Consumer Issues forum. If someone asks for recommendations, don't use the opportunity to mention places that have "wronged" you. Take it up with the manager instead of the internet.
    9. Do not bring back old threads from years ago. It will confuse people that may not look at dates and make them think 3 year old posts were posted recently.
    10. Txt spk, don't use it here, it's harder to read and you have a full keyboard in front of you.
    11. If you are new, wait a while before naming companies. We like to get to know you a bit more before we take your advice at face value.
    12. No backseat modding. If you feel a post violates this Charter, click the report button in the lower left hand corner of their post, and state your reasons in the report window provided when it opens.
    13. No in-thread discussion of moderation. If you need clarification of this Charter, or wish to discuss actions taken that pertain to moderation, PM the moderator.
    14. Please don't post addresses, emails or phone numbers as this forum is public (not even official numbers or mails) - instead link to an outside website or use the PM function.

The penalty for doing any of the above ranges from warnings, editing posts, deletion of posts/threads, PMs, banishment from the forum and ultimately being banned from Boards.ie itself and you possibly being slung over Wolfetone Bridge by your socks.

    What?

Ah, nice one. Might head into town tomorrow so and find one. See if it'll cut though

Get a file too to knock off any sharp edges. Make sure you get rid of any debris from cutting

The difference between Amazon and Mindfactory customer service is like night and day. I just received a faulty PSU from Amazon yesterday and they are issuing me a refund without having to send the item back. They said I can keep it or donate to charity or some such.

Whereas I still haven't received my refund from Mindfactory for a faulty GPU. They said they initiated the refund 2 weeks ago, but now 2 weeks later there's still no sign of the money. Not to mention I had to return the item twice, since the 1st time I returned it they apparently missed an obviously dead fan and claimed there was nothing wrong with it.

That sucks; Guess it's back to recommending UK stores for now.

Amazon are top class. Anywhere else, I try to use PayPal where possible, it cuts the bull**** when you can just light a fire under them if there's a problem.

I have a tendency to do my shopping for kinds of crap via Amazon.co.uk. Not looking forward to what happens after Brexit. Was kinda hoping they would have a fulfillment center here at this stage, but being realistic we are to small for that.

We'll probably have to start using .de or .fr. They might create an .ie site and just ship stuff from France/Germany etc.

It's always worth checking the .fr, .it, .es, and .de Amazon sites...sometimes they can be significantly cheaper than .co.uk

If it's from Amazon themselves they'll usually give you a prepaid label. Had some issues with them though on occasion, not for computer bits though. They've always sorted something though.

A couple of times, lately, with Amazon.de and Amazon.fr I've had to send it back at my own cost and then send them proof of postage for them to refund the cost.

Using the AsRock Pro3 Z77 at the moment. Yes there are problems with the USB controller. However, that translates to not being able to use the inbuilt Rift Headphones as they will randomly stop working, requiring the sound device to be disabled and reenabled. Removing the headphones and using your own solves the issue.
