I see overclockers have 1080s and 1080ti on offer: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/geforce-gtx-deals-1080ti-679-1080-459-1070ti-399-1060-6g-249.18819599/

Question is, is it worth it this time, with new cards maybe not too far away?

I've a radeon fury and don't think there's many other options for me to upgrade..

OK this is pretty much the first time in past 6 months plus where we've not only achieved MSRP but actually improved on them somewhat, its been hard to hit these price points as over the past week or so the pound weakening has made it very hard to hit these price points, as such were just sacrificing margin our side to get them this low, with stocks landing this week its not easy, but here are the highlights:

Translation, we have a lot of stock sitting on shelves not going anywhere with new cards coming out soon so we have to stop price gouging and try to clear stock.

The right answer is buy what you can afford when you want it and not worry about new products coming out. Because prices can shoot back up with bitcoin seeing swings upwards again and other coins are ASIC hardening. Retailers are seeing stock, consumers have mostly just walked away and stock is there. But nobody knows what will happen in 2 months time.

    Pretty much.
    I'm gonna hold out until 1070Ti / 1080 drops to £400 again.

I think OCUK have the Zotac 1070Ti mini for £399 at the moment which is pretty good.

I've decided I'm just going to stick with my old GTX690 or R9 280X for the rest of this generation (whichever I'm left with). All I've played in months is Overwatch anyway so I can afford to wait it out!

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with buying GPU now, since new ones are around the corner. It has been 2 years now since gtx 1070 and 1080 were released.

Funny little frustration at the minute:

    sidewinder_front-440x352.jpg

Bought one of these years ago
Rubber on the wheel was flawed by design, slowly turned to dust
Went to RMA and got a Wireless Mouse 3000 as they disco'd the X3
Still using the X3 just fine for a few years

Now, every now and then the X3 freezes for 3-4 minutes, then poof back to normal. Unplug/replug doesnt change anything. When its frozen the DPI modes don't toggle (hardware controlled not sw).

I could get a new mouse...but I'm tempted to try board repair just because I'm so used to this now. Should I ghetto reflow it? :pac:

Found an unopened Logitech G9X that i'd forgotten I had in the bottom of my parts box, anyone got an idea of how it compares to the G402 and what a fair price for one is these days if i put it on adverts?

G402 might should have a better sensor (being newer) but I wouldn't know exactly.
    (G402: Avago AM010)

G9X sells for upwards of €100 boxed on eBay.

Nvm :) dun goofed and didn't read what Kiki said. New forums won't let me hide my shame...
Oh that's super weird... swapped back to legacy and it looks like i have deleted my shame? I'm not usually one for saying "new is bad" but dear god. Everything is so much clearer in the old layout.

I still can't believe it's nearly 2 years since GTX 1080 released and not much has happened other than crypto/NAND destroying pricing.

Anyone here ever use Razer Synapse tool on Win 10? Trying to sort out an issue for someone remotely. Stopped working randomly. Wouldn't open. Circle would appear for 2 seconds then disappear.

Reinstalls and all that failed apparently (haven't confirmed myself yet). It may well possibly be the case that the app was starting minimised and they weren't seeing it, but if anyone has run into this issue and has some tips it would be helpful to have as troubleshooting ammo when I tackle it.

    Thanks much.

Anyone on X470 here? If so, what motherboard do you have, and how do you rate it?

    On ASUS Strix x470
Find it great, got good reviews.
On par with the Crosshair VII Hero performance wise but less bells and whistles.

Cheers - the Strix was actually top of my watch-list! I'm looking for something stable and reliable that I can drop a new CPU into in a couple of years, but without having to spend top dollah on a flagship. What RAM and CPU are you running with it? And have you tried StoreMI?

    Proud to say I have a 2700x
Embarrassed to say 16gb 2x8 PC4-2400(I will rectify this blasphemy soon)
Haven't tried StoreMI yet, not 100% sold on it TBH.

Nice. 2700X is my plan too.

Yeah, I think I'd need to see more reviews on StoreMI, although Wendell on Level 1 Techs rated it highly.

I have just pulled the trigger on the Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming

actually I have a question about cooling
I have the Noctua NH-D14 but the CPU comes with a Wraith Prism cooler and I was just wondering how they would compare as I requested the free adapter kit from Noctua but that might not arrive for several weeks after I get the rest of the stuff?

Noctua will beat it handily in both noise & temps, simply by virtue of size.
Wraith Prism is decent though & should tide you over.
