River Dodder - Red Colour

No idea where to post this! - but was walking along the Dodder in Terenure/Rathgar and noticed it was a deep red colour. Seen this a couple of times in the past - anyone know why?

cheers all - was thinking that might be it - either that or some weird algae -

harmless enough for dogs to swim etc?
