I feel like the only person who is happy with their quote every year. I still get it cheaper mind :D

Im usually happy enough with my renewal price; this year is the first year that the posted renewal went up significantly from last year (for no reason whatsoever), but one phone call saw nearly €200 knocked off the quoted price.

Doesnt mean I still dont shop around for a cheaper quote of course!

On a general note, how do people find Axa. They are never even close with a quote for me. Always 30 to 50 percent higher that what I can get.

Axa were great for me about ten years ago but for my last three cars (1.4 Civic, 1.8 Accord, Type R Integra) they have been either woefully overpriced or simply not interested. Even this year, when others were quoting me €700-€850, Axa came in at something ridiculous like €1500, and had the cheek to laugh in disbelief when I told them the other quotes I had been getting.

Im firmly of the opinion that they are only interested in the most run of the mill sector of the market. Fair enough I suppose if thats what they want to do; its a huge section of the customer base!

I was with Quinn/Liberty for years, when I was getting insured again after being away they wanted over €500! Aviva were €299, I'm 29 5 years NCB no points on a 1.1 litre car,
Aviva gave me a bit of hassle as I had a NCB cert until July 2013 then drove the car till Christmas with no problems, then went to insure it again 2 weeks ago they wanted some proof I had no claims between July 2013 and December 2013, I doubt such a thing even exists though??.

Letter from your previous insurer maybe?

I was with 123 too, €390 last year got my quote this year was up to €620 this year despite no dramatic changes in my details.

Shopped around, got it down to €350 with Aviva with a few extras.

I think it's a good idea to change your insurance company anually. They don't reward loyalty and will in fact attempt to use your inertia and laziness to rob you.

So, do not be lazy or inert.

Its a good idea to shop around; its not always necessary to change. More often than not Id say my previous insurer has come in with the best quote (eventually) upon renewal. I think I have only been with maybe five insurers in my 13 years of driving.

Yeah i was trying to avoid doing that as they said in the letter I must forward it within 7 days to ensure my cover continuity, I would imagine Liberty wouldn't be in such a hurry, this is after waiting over 2 weeks for my full year disc, I rang them and told them I signed the form to say I had no claims between July and December last year and they said they would send out my disc for the full year!

    Hey,

Try lowestquote.ie. They found me a great price for my car and home insurance recently.

Moved from a 1.6 A4 to Focus ST and the insurance only went up €39 quid with AXA.

I tried this with Liberty a few years ago, premium went up over €100 euros so when I went back with quotes from two other providers they still wouldnt budge!
Lady on the phones just apologized and said there was nothing they could do.

    Couldn't believe it!

Got my renewal this year with my usual brokers with them for 6 years i think.
Have been on an AIG policy for a few years and my qoute last year was 530euro on a 2006 9-3aero 2.0 petrol 210bhp.
Changed to an audi a6 2.0tdi and my renewal was a bit over 1000euro with AIG, i have 8 years no claims.
They offered me insurance with a different company for 900euro with same benefits or 730 with reduced benefits, I said no thanks so they said they will try to do something better and get back to me in a few days.

In the meantime i got a quote of the AA with Allianz for 630euro.

Anyway they got back to me with a quote from another company for 570euro, i declined and went with the AA anyway.

Sending out renewals double the previous year is a piss take.

31 yo woman, volvo s40 - What a range of quotes - its4women renewal 550, to zurich lady star of 2500!
Liberty wouldn't even give me a quote for some inexplicable reason.

Does it matter how much you value your car for, does it? My renewal states 10,000; but worth 4-5k at most. I can't seem to change it online, and can't get through to them on the phone for the last few days - very annoying!
