They're both fine. Would be down to the individual house for me when choosing between them. Green lane has some one off houses built on individual sites. Riverforest is 750 odd houses in the estate. The walk from back to the front can be very long. Avoid woodside for that reason, it's a very long walk to anywhere

Gotta say, just do the walk if you see a house you like in Woodside because it's a lovely quiet end of the estate. Living here 6 years and lazy and love it:)

How's Green Lane? We've a young family so looks like we'll served for amenities like sports clubs nearby and not far from village or train.

Would love Maynooth but nothing seems to be coming available

Leixlip much better place to live than Maynooth in my opinion .Went to college there , shop there , dine there ...Leixlip literally ON Dublin border .( May even be ‘worth more’ than Lucan for ‘average house price’) 30 minutes to OConnell Street in car off peak obviously .Two train stations .I’d be wary of having thousands of college students on my doorstep ( disclaimer not all third level students are loud , drunken louts at 4am but ....)Maynooth town centre traffic lights notorious logjam for whole town .Pity we don’t have a good bookshop though .Leixlip has a ‘smaller’ feel than Maynooth and Celbridge .And Guinness started here !

We moved to Leixlip recently and really love it I have to say.

The two train stations make it really handy either end of the village. The canal, river, St. Catherine's and Castletown are great for walks, plus it's pretty well served by shops and amenities as well.

Like Maynooth, the village can get pretty choked with traffic but as we live one end, we rarely drive through it.
I went to college in Maynooth and I really like it- it's a lovely town but even after we put in an offer in on a house in there, we're delighted we ended up in Leixlip. It's just a really nice and friendly place to live.
Maynooth was still pretty busy and choked up the past year and that was with the schools and the University out for a good while.

Totally biased but I'd definitely recommend Leixlip :)
I live just off Green Lane and it's a really nice area. Plenty of couples, young families and settled families that have been here a long time. Quiet enough on the traffic front too as it's been partly pedestrianised in recent years.

Don't know if that helps but that's my two cents!

I think Lucan will be more expensive, probably because of the Dublin address. You'll get a bigger house in Leixlip for the same money. Leixlip is also way better served that Lucan in terms of access to facilities and amenities.

Not sure I'd agree with that. Both have no cinema, public pool, recycling centre. Lucan does have better eateries (and probably pubs too). The majority in Leixlip are owned by the one family and are all variation of a fairly bland theme (imho).

Lucan will have swimming pool soon enough

I've lived in Leixlip for 4 years and Maynooth for 5 years before that and I have to say I much prefer Leixlip! You're that bit closer to the city, and there are loads of gorgeous areas for walks, the park is fantastic, we go to Castletown loads as we live that end. We're in Glen easton an its a lovely, settled estate, and you avoid all traffic there if you're coming off the motorway. Leixlip traffic hasn't a patch on Maynooth anyway - we lived in Kingsbry, up the motorway end, and it was actually quicker to drive to Celbridge for Aldi than to cross the town for our own one, you'd have to pass something like 13 traffic lights from A to B. You'd often be quicker walking than driving down to the village. I hadn't the patience for it, and there's been a few more estates built since then!

Live in leixlip, socialise in maynooth. That's what I do! Leixlip the much bigger town for housing options, although little for sale at the moment. Maynooth has much better pubs and restaurants.

Out of interest what's a taxi cost to get you from Leixlip main st to Maynooth main St? Maybe this is option I should consider too

Yeah i do this too, live Leixlip, socialise in Maynooth or Dublin, taxi abt 15eu or 40eu from Dublin :) both doable, if your early home train always an option from Maynooth to Leixlip, 10 min trip

Leixlip is a great spot. Good schools, decent bus and rail, far enough away from the city and close enough to it. Nice estates, decent shops in driving range, N4 access, Catherine's Park is great, good gyms and running tracks, Maynooth Uni up the road, etc

    Two negatives

    Village smells terrible every summer

Do not buy in Lough Na Mona, few families have given that estate a very bad name. Avoid.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Yeah as other posters have said, it's normally around 15 or 16 euro
Would get bus up or a lift, but taxi home
