Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If arsenal only play with ten can see us winning it!

Clichy to play right back and likely Nastasic and boyata centre back, I worry about that defence. I think Arsenal @2s to win is good value.

Nearly all of our big hitters missing on sunday. The line up will probably look something like

    Hart

    Clichy
    Nastasic
    Boyata
    Kolarov

    Fernando

    Nasri
    Toure
    Jovetic
    Navas

    Dzeko

Fernando's role will be crucial. He'll be a busy boy trying to protect that CB pairing from Sanchez. Really can't see us winning it with that CB pairing. 2-0 to the Arse.

Still a decent team besides the backline. Clichy on the right could be a serious weak point.

    Is Kompany injured?

No. The majority of the lads who were at the world cup (those who progressed the furthest) are being given extra time off. Therefore, Edin, Joe and Yaya are playing as they exited Brazil fairly early. Vinnie, our three Argentinian lads, Fernandinho and Merlin are rested. Not sure I agree with the policy though. The WC final was, what, 4 weeks ago this sunday. Those lads need some game time in their legs before we play Newcastle next weekend. Still; Manuel didn't do too badly for us last season, so we have to trust him. Agree with you about the quality of the side from midfield up; it's that CB pairing that has me worried.

    Still think we'll lose though.

It's still only a glorified pre-season friendly, to be honest.

Still like to win it though!
    ;)

And it does raise money for various charities. Or at least it did in its old ''Charity Shield'' guise. I'm assuming it still does.

That International not serious Cup (but still the best chance of a trophy for either Pool or Utd) thread managed to get to 57 pages for a pre-season friendly in the middle of the night.

Doubt this one will get that far as both City and Arsenal have more important business later in the season.

I was only messing. It's usually a good opener to the proper stuff, especially when it's 2 top teams. There's been some great games over the last 10 years or so.

I'm looking forward to this game. The Community Shield tends to be a decent enough game with plenty of goals and both teams in it this year are capable of continuing that trend.

Zuculini of Manchester City is off to Sunderland on loan until January after this game so it would be nice to get a look at him prior to that move.

I assume this game will be widely available in Cambodia. I'll have no problems.

    I'll go for a draw. Maybe 1-1

Be wary of this. BT had a similar sounding offer recently, the month of Dec for €1. You signed up to take their package but could opt out at month end by calling them at a provided number to cancel.
All well and good until you tried ringing them. Phones weren't answered, when they were you were left on hold for hours, messages you left went "missing".
Meanwhile they continued to deduct full subscription through Jan and Feb. It was only with the threat of legal action (and endless hours of hassle/frustration) that they cancelled the contract and returned my money.

Sanchez starts for Arsenal as does Sanogo.

Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Sanogo (via @arsenal)

To paraphrase Graham Taylor; ''Do I not like that central defence''. The rest of the side isn't too bad, but that pairing against Sanchez frightens me.

Jovetic will be like a new signing to use a cliché.
He'll surprise those not paying attention.

    Pretty low key starting 11s.

    Pretty low key starting 11s.

Pretty much the strongest squad available bar Sanogo starting ahead of Giroud.

Guardian reporting no extra time, straight to penalties after 90 if it's a draw.

    That normal for Charity Shield?

That booing of Nasri is childish.
    Come on you Gunners.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

Debuchy with 2 great crosses it's about time, felt sick everytime Sagna got the ball in that position.
