When to harvest pears: Doyenne du Comice or Conference

My pear tree is bursting with pears of a good size and some have a hint of red coming into them. I'm not sure if it's Doyenne du Comice or Conference. They were bare trees bought in Lidl maybe 10 years ago. Anyway.... there is such a variation on when to pick them, but the 9th of August seems very early. :confused: I lost…

Anyway.... there is such a variation on when to pick them, but the 9th of August seems very early.
I lost quite a lot of them last year as I left them to late to pick.

They are quite round and not long and at the minute they are very hard.
