This show has a very subtle way of doing things a barrel of toxic waste from Gus and Mikes project could get dumped near the school Walt in the current timeline is working at that causes his cancer, there are endless possibilities with the couple of years left until the time lines cross or catch up for blanks to be filled in.

The twins could hit Walt Jr leaving him crippled and you know it's obvious a certain go getter in the dea will pop up soon earning his stripes by busting one of the gangs or characters in order to rise up the ranks. These are two potential storylines that could bring the two world's together without acknowledging the existence of the characters too much.

The toxic waste idea is a good one.

But, the Walt Jr idea is a no go from that angle.
The Walt Jr. character has cerebral palsy (as does the actor RJ Mitte), this is not normally caused by a car crash, you would need to very unlucky and have a certain type of head trauma.

Cerebral Palsy is mostly caused most by premature birth leading to a neurological brain injury.

What would work better is Walt Jr being born prematurely after a young Gus (on the run from Chile) crashes into the White's car (hit and run) the shock causes a pregnant skylar to goes into labour etc etc.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The latest episode left me with an overwhelming feeling of sadness for Kim - totally stuck in a rut with a guy she can trust less & less and financially tied to a job she has no motivation for. She's doing her best to help Jimmy out of his rut but it's keeping her in hers. Where they live seems so fuppin grim aswell. Really thought she was going to give Mesa Verde the heave-ho and just go with the smaller cases as they give her more scope to exercise her human side and make a difference but she had to go back with her tail between her legs to apologise.

Havent watched it back but was there any significance to the person in the background when kim and paige were talking re mesa verde? the shot seemed to include a person out of focus in the background. Or was it just the girl that kim was representing? just seemed to catch my attention for some reason.

edit: had a look at it there. it was a woman alright but it doesn't seem to be anything. just thought it was strange Paige is pushed to the left of shot and the viewers "focus" is on the person in the background as such....unless of course it's someone like Skyler!!!!?!!

Also caught my eye and expected her to come into focus in the next scene... but nothing.

Hopefully there is backstory about Gus Fring.

That would be great. Hasn't he a history of funding PhD researchers, and isn't Gale being funded 'at the moment', hence Gus visiting him at the lab? or am I raving?

There's been lots of hints to his origins being mysterious, between stuff Mike said in BB and also Hank saying they needed to keep digging, because he was sure they'd find something.

However, I doubt if they could get whole episodes out of it, might work better with extended flashbacks. I'll have a chat with Vince :pac::pac::pac::pac:

You are correct Fring had a scholarship for physicists.
"In 1994, after moving to the United States, Gustavo Fring established a college scholarship,
known as the Max Arciniega Chemistry Scholarship, at the University of New Mexico Chemistry department.
This scholarship honored Gustavo's dear friend, Maximino Arciniega.
Gale was a recipient of the scholarship (perhaps one of three dozen), and this paid for his education ("Hermanos").
While at UNM, Gale received his Bachelor's degree, and graduated in 1999"

I'm an episode behind, but the whole Nacho/Gus/Mike thing is confusing me. Ok, we all know Nacho survives into B.B. and we know that Nacho effectively used Gus and his operation in an attempt to get away from Salamanca (or more probably get his dad away). But I'm not recalling exactly how Mike fits in there?

Nacho wanted Hector dead, Gus doesn't want him dead (not yet anyway for some reason?) but I can't remember how Mike fits in...

The moment I saw Kim, I felt sorry for her. She's empty. The only thing in her life is work, which is just depressing (she likes watching a few flicks here and there too, I guess). But, she's an incredibly sad character and has been the second she walked on screen.

Mike was after Hector, remember the note on the car saying "don't"

have a read of this page, I find the site very good for jogging my memory.

Enjoyed this week's a lot, even if that does make me a BB fan boy. One thing's for sure, Vince Gilligan should be allowed make all the telly. When you look at YouTube these days you realise the extend to which everyone has copied him.

Just a lot of the popular 'vloggers' use his style of putting cameras in weird places and then walking into shot, and his style of montage, time lapse etc.

Probably Casey Neistat, then. Lots of imitations. There might be a generation of people who Youtube, but don't watch traditional TV (gosh, I sound old) let alone a slow burn show about a dodgy lawyer.

I thought Jimmy mentioned "Scent of a Woman" and Emma Thompson winning the Oscar during flashback just to indicate the timeline but when I looked it up I saw Emma won it for a film called "Howard's End"

It was a very enjoyable episode overall.
I don't predict a good future for Kai though.
Was that the fella that robbed the Hummel (for Jimmy) with Huell in the alleyway?

Also, I was a bit confused about how Jimmy got to know about the Hummel Mrs Strauss?
If it was a former client how come the printer people did not know him?
    Or am I confusing it?

I thought it was completely unnecessary, I personally don't care how they came around to choosing who would dig the meth lab.

Ok , with the benefit of more episodes, I think I can see why we are being given so much detail about how hard and expensive it was for Gus to construct his lab on (or I should say under )USA soil.

It took the clever Gus all this time, effort, risk, resources and brainpower, to build a lab that could deliver good quality meth, yet later all this effort was replicated by Walter White almost by accident, and with very little resources.

Therefore Walter White is going to be a much bigger thorn in both Gustavo's and the cartels side then we ever realised.

enjoyable episode glad jimmy went back to them kids :D his get it together speech to howard was good as well. Kim seems driffting out of the picture she was great in all previous episodes but now shes just time filler, think moment she mentioned going with another firm jimmy switched off and realized the two dont have future. It will be great bundle for future generations to see this morphed into complete bundle where whole character development is created to be made into show, even thou its done in reverse now.

    Another quality episode.

Jimmy & Kimmy....are ending right before our eyes. The mirroring of the "You need to do what's best for you" line between them says as much: Kim to Jimmy when she asked him if he was going to see the shrink, and Jimmy to Kim when she said she was going to rejoin a big law firm (who's lead Jimmy hates btw). Jimmy
standing by the FORQUE sign in the kitchen I assume is signalling he's come to a fork in the road and has to choose one side/which road to take. We all know which road he'll take.
    Likewise,
his complete apparent about turn on his outward expression to Kim about the role and the mentioning of the goldfish again lead me back to something I said about a previous episode - that once he's made up his mind he's forgotten about it completely.
Kim rejoining a big law firm though doesn't fit with her re-discovered love of the law and helping people - a minor flaw sure, but it seems like a soft exit for me. It also
strikes me as very weird as she hasn't discussed any of this with Mesa Verde before committing. You can bet your ass would want to know about changes to their legal representation in advance of being presented with it as a fait accompli.
    Also Kim joining
that firm is deeply symbolic. She knows that's going to cut at Jimmy as they were the ones who fought him in the Sandpiper case. Joining them is for him the same as joining the enemy.

Gus & Mike...I felt a bit weird about this as
Mike is directing Gus more than I expected. One would assume it would be much more of a collaborative effort at this point. Gus is as, if not more cautious than Mike, yet seems to be very blase about some elements of the construdtion and failing to see the bigger picture - which is not like him.
    Kai
is going to get his comeuppance at some stage, be that simply fired or a more "corporal" punishment.
    Gus's
monologue however was pretty cool, really shows the patience of the man in exacting his revenge. He's ready to wait as long as it takes.

The Howard's End line was amusing, though
I can't see an established, large and very successful law firm like HHM collapsing this quickly. These companies would have many clients on huge retainers. Chuck wasn't working in recent years so it's not like clients left when he passed. And the nature of these relationships is people are very slow to leave. It's just not credible that things have happened like this - ity's been 3 months apparently since Chuck's death!

    Jimmy into Saul
was great. The "you get one warning" line was great, we're almost there - you can feel it.

Finally, I'm sure Bushmills were delighted with the plug. That "there's a Mr. Bushmills waiting for me in my office" is I suspect likely going to become a thing. Gilligan plugged a few whiskey and bourbon brands in Breaking Bad - for free no less!

Any method will do as long as I don’t have to watch more episodes about a banking/public defender lawyer dilemma.

The whole thing is ridiculous....as if lawyers in their forties just jump day to day between a specialised area like financial services regulation to defending skobes in the criminal justice system.

I think it was the first time I have seen Kim genuinely happy, during the restaurant scene with Jimmy, her face lit up and she let out a laugh.

She can remain financially secure whilst pursuing PB work. She doesn't have a deep connection with Jimmy and going back into partnership with him was never going to work out. Their paths are diverging and he's slippin' away. They'll part with a wistful look on Saul's face.

Great to see Jimmy back in his old haunt at the Vietnamese salon and hilarious to see the owner getting more and more obstructive as he carried all those boxes in.

Well, that's my question answered about how they will build this lab and keep the guys in the dark.
Really like this storyline, I remember Gus saying in BB that to make it economically viable he would need 200 lbs a week.

    1lb was $40k, thats $8M a week.
I remember thinking how the hell does he need that much to make it viable, things make a lot more sense now, as it seems it was a massive massive investment.

I sense bad things in store for Kai.
