Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I'm looking for info on how to grease my Shimano 105 SPD-SL pedals. I recently noticed a bit of a creaking noise coming from them when climbing. I'm doing a big week long cycle soon so i'd like them to be right.
I saw where you need a special tool to adjust the bearing cones but I was wondering if there's any way of getting a bit of fresh grease into the axles?

I would start by removing the pedals from the crank and grease the spindles first. Also makes it alot easier to clean when they are off the bike.

Are you certain the creaking is from the pedals and not the BB/cranks?

For peace of mind on a week long cycle it may be better to replace them with a new set. Pedals are subject to wear and tear and need to be replaced periodically. If the originals turn out to be ok, you can use them as a spare set.
