Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Its a good job i read the links carefully otherwise i would be in Charleville in my great homeland of Cork waiting and wondering why no one was turning up,to think they didn't build "Charleville castle in Charleville who would have thought and it, made sense and all with Lidl being there.
I'm still going but now need to research a route,by the way i will be leaving from Shannon,Clare in case anyone needs a pickup on the way and stop me heading for Cork on autopilot.

It confused me too and I'm from near enough to Charleville (Cork)! It's literally just outside of Tullamore, easy enough to find (when you are in the right county of course!) :)

Looking forward to Saturday now - the weather is supposed to pick up too!

Anyone have any specific project/shots they are hoping to get? I'm hoping to get a good shot of the stairs, am even hoping to cook it :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 183 ✭✭Strawberry Swan

I was thinking it would be cool to do some strobe lighting and maybe use a model if possible. Also do some light painting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭Kazujo

Light painting is usually good craic, I'm going to have a look in the local €2 shop to see what types of light up toys they have.

Sounds really good - we did try a few bits before, I have a couple of shots but would love to try again as I would like to think I know my camera a bit better now!

I love the pattern of the last one. I'll try and borrow some lights.

Thanks :) If there's anything else that we could bring - I'm not sure of what's what.

I have an LED wand torch and will try to pick up a few of the glowsticks.

Where can you get steel-wool, or does anyone know exactly what to do with it?!

Not sure how well wire wool will be looked upon in the Castle but I'll have some in the car...just in case.

I think you can get steel wool in any hardware store & it can just be lit. You need to have something to hold it in when swinging around though.

Lightpainting was great craic the last time I tried it in 2009

If people want me to bring a studio light or two down for modelling, let me know & we can try it in the castle.

There wasn't any problem previous years, we were well away from the castle or any out houses etc.

Though it is something we need to be very careful of.

That would be great if you could bring a studio light or two :) If anyone has cool outfits it would make portraits more interesting.

Steel wool, metal whisk and a piece of string is what you will need. I did some research on it a while back, but never got the chance to practice it :(

I have room for 2 people in my car, leaving Blackrock (Dublin) area, if anybody is in need of a lift.

really looking forward to this weekend :)

See you all at 11am tomorrow, don't be late as you have to do the tour of the castle for signing off health and safety or you won't be able to wander yourself. If you are running late for some reason pm me so I can alert the Castle Volunteer.

Also, don't forget your donation - €35 and please bring change as I won't have any!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,079 ✭✭✭xia

Looks highly unlikely that I'll make it at all due to a project with deadline Sunday running into problems - and even if I make it at some stage I won't stay for the night.
(As I didn't see anything about a waiting list I took it it wasn't urgent to give notice earlier)

    enjoy!
