I reported it to the council a few days ago and received a phone call today from Jarlath Canney. He said he reckons that the problem is internal and that I need a plumber. I told him it definitely isn't and to check out this board.
He said he would pass the complaint to Irish Water, which to be fair he did straight away (he copied me in the email).

When the council still had this job, that's who was in contact with me too. Very helpful last time, lets hope irish water can follow through. Well done for mentioning thread too.

We'll all be paying a fortune for water soon - If they're going to charge us so much the water at least needs to be fit to drink... .:(

By now they've probably checked the water and arrived at the logical conclusion that you're all a wee bit mental.

They came and scoured out the watermain in Moyola Park; it was full of brown water so probably a pipe repair was done. Irish Water twitter said that essential repair work had to be undertaken.

Some shocking stuff up on the Connaught Tribune FB tonight about drinking water from just outside the city.

One person in Beal an Daingean has tested their water after getting a chlorine smell and taste and found as much chlorine in their drinking water as you would find in a swimming pool!
She tested it with chlorine testing tablets that they use for testing swimming pools.
I wonder if all of us having that chemically taste off the water did the same would be find the same result?
This is her pic, presumably its a colour change reaction caused by the testing tabs in response to chlorine

The first thing I learnt when I moved to Galway is don't bother with the tap water. It tastes Terrible no matter where I lived here. Its a shock going somewhere else where the water tastes like water and not chemicals.

Because the packs for registering with Irish Water have arrived in letterboxes.

What about if you're paying for that drinking water from a tap?

Then you'll be disappointed. Although I will be sending lots of complaints and following them up if the water I'm paying for isn't up to scratch.

so let me get this straight, because you're paying for this tap pi$$ water you'll drink it?

i buy 2 or 3 (6 x 2 ltr) Clare Organic water each week and they taste great. I'll only shower in council water, barely

Well that's not really the point, we are paying for a drinking water service, not just a washing water service, we have a right to complain and highlight issues with that service.
Also not everyone can afford to buy water. If you have a family buying water becomes even more difficult and not an extra expense people should have to face.
