Made my way back to Gold Nova 4

Have reached a spell of inconsistency though.. Played 4 games yesterday and was disappointed with my performance in all of them. I was so silver it hurt to watch myself. Couldn't land my AWP shots. Kept getting stuck in places. Whenever I tried to quick switch (QQ) I'd end up doing it once or three times and end up jumping around with my knife or a nade.

New AWP is annoying as hell. I'm still not used to it.

I really feel like they are ****ing up what CS is meant to be. Buffing the pistols and smg's to encourage running while firing. Pray and spray is supposed to be frowned upon. Now I feel like its the only way to play the pistol round. The super strong five-seven and tec9 are far to useful in anti-eco rounds. Half-buys are more viable than ever before.

As for the AWP, my reactions are too bad to just sit in one place and wait for enemy. I've always been better at taking the peek. This update is really bad imo. At least nuke is getting an overhaul.

I've found myself in some questionable matches; our team consisting of three Silver threes, one Silver four, and the outlier being a Nova2 - paired off against a team entirely comprised of a mixture of MGs and Nova Masters. The following day, four silver threes and one silver four matched against four silver fours and an unknown (player left so only bot to show for it). It just seems that in the past few days I've encountered a significantly higher amount of 'stacked' teams.

I've found that if we queue with 5, the ranks of the enemy team gravitate around the top rank of your 5. This is definitely new. It punishes premades while attempting to account for smurfing. I really feel like they have fixed things that weren't broken. I had to create a smurf account just so I could play with some silver friends. Its such a joke.

Well, the first day -= yes we had a team of five and the thought had crossed my mind that the 5v5 pre-made match making was fubared, but the following couple of days days there has been three of us, and two randoms, so I think they've made a bags of normal match-making too.

Smurfs are a real problem, but I'm not realy sure how you can realistically combat them without punishing everyone else in the process.

Edit: one possibility is to create a new game-mode to allow people of wildly different ranks just play with their mates; 5v5 non-competitive. So not the free-for-all of casual, but not competitive where someone with a much higher rank and drastically change the outcome of a game. Whilst it addresses people creating accounts just to play with lower level friends, it doens't address the real "because I can" smurf types.

Sorry I meant to add, I've seen the ranks gravitate to higher ranks even with a group of 3

Its a different ball game when you can actually somewhat rely on your teammates to cover an angle

You win back skins! People bet skins and they all go into a pool. The value of this pool is added up, so you earn €x per € bet, depending on the odds.

Just an example of todays game Fnatic vs Vega. Odds were like 96% for Fnatic and 4% for Vega. I bet almost $30 of skins on Fnatic and won $1.17 worth of crappy skins.



Another game today xGame vs Exploders was a bit more even. I bet on the favourite, Exploders and put down 4 keys against them. Managed to win about $6.50 worth of skins.



As it stands, I am currently -$12.85 in debt from betting

Raging, was going to bet on TSM and Dignitas as the odds were far too low for teams of this caliber. Got the time completely wrong, so when I logged on both games had already started.

Was hard to watch them win.

Depends on your monitor. Most monitors are 60Hz so 60 FPS is fine.

Also, after the above post I googled best settings for CSGO and they recommend a lot of it low to help competitive. I've adjusted to what they recommend and see feck all visual difference but an increase in FPS, so if people really do need the extra FPS...

You don't ahve to have fb to play, just would make it easier for you to find a team. You could get one through boards or the LAN page when it is announced etc either.

Try competitive.Get your 10 wins to get a rank anyway. You'd be surprised how much better you can get very quickly.

Since the latest update CELT is now the default voice codec on all servers. Apparently this makes for crystal clear in-game comms, compared to the crap we've put up with for the last few years. Haven't personally tried it myself but I heard it's almost like being in teamspeak.

Reading back on the thread, the comparisons with people moaning about solo q in LoL is striking

I ranked up to eagle in solo queue yesterday. I don't think I've gotten any better. I think its due to the vac bans.

I barely even play the game and I'm Guardian Elite or something. I don't know what way the rankings work but I'm guessing its above average. I can't understand the life of me how I got there. I won 10 competitive games (lost 1/11) bottom (or near bottom) in k/d/a every game and now I'm stuck in this pool that I'm probably hitting well above my weight...

Is there decent match making in this? It's been years since i played, but wouldn't mind giving it a go again. Just don't fancy playing people that are insanely good till i at least remember the basics.

It will probably be fine based on solo kiith. You'll hit the right rank in a while cherry.

The worst is queuing with people of different skill, it way over compensates on the other team. Generally If I play with friends everybody is gonna have a bad time due to this so it's not really fair to.

Played two games late there Sat night. Joined a friend and his friend, and think it was like casual matchmaking, so wasn't ranked. But damn,

Two games, two blatant instances of cheating, and second game opponent was kicked due to something VAC message.

Kinda remembered why I was hesitant putting time into the game. Granted its obviously not going to be every game, but two games and two instances of cheating was horrendous. If thats rampant through matchmaking won't bother.

Was inevitably rust as ****, but some frustration with reg as well. Don't know if its a thing in GO like CS of old. But some instances of clearly putting rounds on target for the game to report I didn't hit anything.

Yeah I think they changed it a few months ago, used to play with some silver friends and would usually get ranked against other silver etc, now if i play with them we are always against smfc,lems etc.

But I'm still winning games despite bringing nothing. Is the skill level based on wins/loss ratio or what? I'm not sure at all how it works.

With a lot of guns in CS:GO you have to aim where the bullet spray is going, not necessarily where the sights are aimed at. P90 for example, you have to aim nearly at their feet to kill them accurately with a spray.

To counteract cheating tehy changed hit detection from client to server side. This means that things like hits and blood you see on your client aren't always what the server sees. This compounded with the natural variation in a shot (your shot goes in a box where you aim, not exactly where you aim) leads to people blaming the game, but it's the same for everybody and is to stop a lot of cheats so I find it fine.

Nobody knows for sure but it can be based on bomb planting, MVPS, wins/losses, assists etc, not just pure kills anyway. As long as you keep winning the game will see you as constructive to the win. For instance in CS it is often the person who makes the calls that gets the worst amount of kills. It could be that somebody is a great fragger but is placed worse than somebody who is a great communicator and works with their team.
