Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With a lot of guns in CS:GO you have to aim where the bullet spray is going, not necessarily where the sights are aimed at. P90 for example, you have to aim nearly at their feet to kill them accurately with a spray.

    If that makes sense...

Ah yeah I get that part. Was quickly able to see the recoil pattern on the M4 and AK and am getting comfortable already with the M4. But I mean like the first 2-3 rounds clearly at centre mass, and then the game telling me I didn't hit anything, annoying as ****.

Played two more ranked games last night, first game had a blatant aimbotter who made three people on my team leave, so me and second last fella just surrendered.

    Second game more blatant wallhacks.

So basically every game I've played has had a blatant cheater. That's really enjoyable......

Going to try stick it out a little bit more, and a good few friends are starting to pick back up CSGO so might just play premades.

I come across definite cheater in roughly 1/50 games. You are getting extremely unlucky.

Also hate to be that guy, but stop blaming your missed shots on the game rather than yourself :pac: That's no way to improve.

I believe that if you surrender it counts as double the loss for you, giving you double the negative invisible points towards your rank.

    Is that true?

Impossible to say either way. Valve have never released how their matchmaking works and never will to prevent people attempting to game the system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,148 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

Edumacated guess I know, but I've never had the impression from valve that a surrender was double-negative score. Nor do I particularly think it makes sense to penalise for surrender in such a fashion. After all, a loss is a loss is a loss at the end of the day whether you surrender, loose, quit or get kicked. The only additional penalty on top of any of the above being that if you quit you also get a cooldown penalty.

As far as I can tell it doesn't happen, probably better to surrender than have your score hammered if somebody leaves and its going to be 16-0.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not expecting miracles for a fair bit, if I can actually continue to play ranked. I'll get to a point where I'm at a decent level then I'll move up the ranks, until I hit the next block and then need to improve etc.

After going through LoL solo queue for so long, have absolutely no reservations for how this will work. I'm hoping that the cheater thing is very much down to my bad luck, and the fact I'm going through placement matches so I'll be in with a high portion of new accounts, smurfs and all that jazz.

In reality I won't have a lot of time to invest in the solo queue due to WoW and other stuff, so I'm more concerned with going into matches and having a proper match, rather then dealing with hackers and cheaters etc :)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,104 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Most of the cheaters are at the bottom and top, so yeah you are probably seeing more due to your placement matches.

When I last played I was GN3. Took a break from competitive for a while. Lost my rank, came back 2 weeks ago and 4 games later I'm Master Guardian. GG Volvo.

I swear this game has gotten easier. I'm holding my own at LE when I used to struggle at DMG. People aren't making those near instant headshots any more. I wonder was I always playing against subtle cheaters without realising.

There have been a lot of VAC bans which has freed up the upper ranks as far as I know. So you might have noticed it's easier to rank up after these ban waves occur. As a consequence, a lot of previously lower tier players now have a higher rank.

You hear about it a lot on: http://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive

    About the hitbox problem:

Won't hold my breath. The hitbox issue has been raised ever since the beta and nothing has changed.

I wonder how many people are actually working on csgo. It must be raking in the cash since the skins update. I'd love to see some of their spaghetti code. The funniest bug was that scout bug where if you were crouching and scoped, and someone else crouched anywhere else on the map, you would move at full running speed. Like.... how do those two things relate? Incredible!

Big update. No balance fixes though. Is altering hit-boxes that hard?

Jumping onto to a ladder still completely messes up your hitbox: http://gfycat.com/DefensiveSpeedyAstrangiacoral

Funny that they change the timer for casual but not competitive...someday.

Lol, you did alright. I went straight to Silver 1 after ranking before slowly making my way up top Gold Nova Master where I sit now.

I'm actually quitting. I don't play very often and now despite being Master Guardian they clearly want to push out alt accounts by declining competitive games until reaching rank 3. I'd need about 20 pub games to get there. In the last 3 months I've only played about 30 competitive games, but I play maybe 1/2 games a week and now I can't (in competitive) so good luck with that.

I really wish the dev team would do something else other than this.

He might be lucky but nothing compares to that feeling of unboxing more bizons and negevs than you could ever need. Consistency is key my friend.

More likely to get stuck with Russians if playing on your own.

You can use this so you only get games on the EU West server, might take a little longer searching tho:

Wow I'd love to playing this game for the first time and first time using keyboard/mouse.

Had an insane game last night where we were 0-8 down, then went to 7-8, then went to 14-9 to us.... then it ended 15-15! So many swings in momentum. Fair play to both teams for not going on tilt!

I quite like the glowing red halo the leader gets. It mixes up the strategy knowing everyone has all eye on you, and also levels the playing field to a degree.

In fairness that is par for the course now for games that operate a solo queue mechanic ranking system, or a system when you have ranking where you can queue with friends.

You played lol, so you know this is the trend. It was annoying when I came back needing two more wins to get a rank, and then having to level up to 3, but I assume its a mechanic to ensure that totally new players arn't walking into ranked, and to try deal wih excessive smurf accounts, and accounts that look to exploit for monetary gain.

In those fifteen years you had to get 4 lads, go into IRC, and get a mix, and hope that one of you have a server, and be selective to make sure your not picking teams notorious for hacking(or players)

The in game ranked system is good, and I like it, and am fine having to level an account a little to get into playing it.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,104 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

That's fine for new players and new accounts, not players that already had hundreds of competitive wins, they could have easily not applied it to those accounts. It was jsut several wasted evenings for so many people, not to mention you just happen to level up faster if you give them money. Games were always easy to get however I like the automated system more, that doesn't mean everything they do can't be criticized because of it.

Yeah it blows my mind when people give out about match making in csgo. It is the best thing that has ever happened to cs. It would sometimes take hours to find a game on irc.

I'm torn on the rank-up system though. I ranked up before they put in the restriction of level 3 so it didn't effect me but I hate the idea of a part of a game being stuck behind a wall straight after purchasing it. I have never played a ranked game in DotA for example, I played around 20 hours before giving up. 20 hours is a long time.

The point is though that it makes sure people experience the game, maps, how the game is played and get to grips with the nature of the game before moving into match making, where you being ****, wrecks the craic for four other people.

To be honest one major gripe I have is not being able to select like a preferred language. Every game I'm going into is full of Russians or Eastern Europeans, and I get literally no information over voice comm. I'm totally left by myself.

I'll hear all this rattle language in my ear, get shot, and then loads of roaring. Then someone typing "noob". So I assume its them telling me something, but because I don't speak their language (which is horrible btw, Russian and Eastern european languages actually grate my ears hearing them, its like chickens clucking) I'm being labelled the noob.

I havn't played one game yet of ranked where I have been able to effectively communicate with my team, its a touch ridiculous. Would like something in place where I can set my prefered team language to "English".
