Rumours coming thick and fast now. Have just taken myself off the oneplus one invite waiting list in anticipation.

How soon after the US launch was the Nexus 5 available here?

Nexus 5 wasn't available here at launch, it will be this time though as its for sale in Ireland through Google, should be immediately....

6" inch screen would put me off. Have the nexus 4 at the moment and I don't really want to go any bigger.

Clicked the link and after a line or two it says:

Is this the new way to make money for websites?

Any web page that tries that get's closed immediately. Try adblock plus, didn't have any issues then.

The rumours I've heard are more towards a 5.2" screen rather than 6. 6" would be far too big. I have reservations about my 5" xperia Z1 too, but the bezels are large on it.

    *GT clicks the subscription*

And i just got my oneplus... Still, they will have to amp up the audio on the nexus to make me jump back. Really smitten with the sound quality and software on the opo.

Tell yea this, I would rather give a few percentage points in smoothness than give up the amazing sound amplifier, enhanced security, speed boost , screen size and battery life that the oneplus has over my nexus 5... Or nexus 6 if its still missing those thing...

I love that Google devices are heavily subsidised and all the want in return is your soul all your personal information.

how do you know that that the nexus 6 will be available? can you even buy any google hardware right now direct from google from Ireland?

edit - I guess you can - test with nexus 5.

    https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_7_32_GB_Black_Wi_Fi_only?id=nexus_7_32gb_2013

    Yes. From the Google store.

  • Registered Users Posts: 506 ✭✭✭D_turbo

This would want to hurry up and at least be announced.

Been waiting ages now...Skipped the 5 as my 4 is still going strong.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73 ✭✭fredotf2

Rumours are that it will be announced (maybe launched) on the 16th of October, last year the device was launched on the same day world wide (so no countries were waiting around).

BUT, when the Nexus 5 launched they did not even sell any devices in Ireland, so as to whether Ireland will have the opportunity to buy the Nexus 6 on launch day - we won't known until the day...

Yeah...Highly doubt ireland will get it launch date.

Ill be using parcel Motel and A Uk Card the day it launchs anyway :pac:

size is a bit much but iv waited this long...i cant back out now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

I lost patience and bought a OnePlus One. Only took 4 days to arrive via Parcelmotel. Very pleased with it - getting used to the screen size but still think 5.9 inches would be a step too far (if the rumours are true).

Does everyone here really want that size screen? Rumours are that its massive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

    5.5 is my limit.

I'll be disappointed if it's that big. Nexus 4 is the perfect size for me, if I could get an updated version with better battery I'd be all over it.

Seeing as the Nexus 6 is a 5.9' screen so is a big departure from the Nexus 5, how likely is a price drop on the 5?

I know the 4 took a drop last year but I can't see it happening this time around.

Can't see it either as the n6 won't be as popular with such a big screen. Hopefully they bring out a n6 mini with a smaller screen but leave the rest of the spec alone.

New Android ad appears to show the Nexus 6 running L.

    Link

    Has to be released soon.

Is it just me or are they poking fun at people thinking its gonna be HUGE? hope I'm right. Ads are very south park esqe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,411 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Picture of the new Nexus released by evleaks. Looks to be definitely 5.9" with the location of the power and volume buttons

5.9" is nuts tbh and thats a happy OnePlus owners opinion. Will they bother releasing a new Nexus 7 aswell?

    They wont,its a nexus 9 with 8.9 screen.

Such a waste of a QHD screen :(

    Why?

Because lots of people would like a QHD screen but not a 5.9 inch one!

    digitaldr wrote: »

tbh even at 6 inches its a waste of a QHD display, you'll only really notice that kind of detail on screens much bigger, if they can keep this between €350 - €400 il be buying one
and if you think about it, 5.9 inches in comparison to say the note 3's 5.7 inches really isnt any massive jump (particularly if they get the bezels down)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,513 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Yeah bezel size will be crucial. I take your point about screen size and QHD although some G3 owners would beg to differ - never seen one myself so can't comment. At the risk of sounding sexist I can't see a 5.9 inch phone appealing to a lot of women :)
