Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace: Emirates Stadium 17:30 Sky sports 1 - Mod note in OP

Arsenal begin the season at home to shell shocked Crystal Palace after pulis has left.
Arsenal haven't won an opening day fixture since 2009, today should be an opportunity to fix that stat, although palace may just be dangerous, They finished last season in the 4th best form in the league. Arsenal though won their last 5 in a row and have added two pieces of silverware since then. As an aside a win today will be arsenals 100Th pl victory at the Emirates.
I'm going for a 4-0 win, with giroud to score. Teams to follow.

Mod Post: Remember folks, the EPL are clamping down on any footage, be it gifs, on vine etc, of any goals or incidents from ongoing games, so please do not be putting them in match threads. It falls under the copyright rule for the forum, and we would prefer if neither the site or any posters got into trouble over it.

What is this madness with starting Sanogo?

Giroud's not fully fit I'd imagine.

Fully expect us to demolish them; 5 or 6 and a clean sheet.

Don't think this will be easy for Arsenal at all.
Palace might be hard to break down.
    2 - 0 to the Gunners.

Yip. That's a solid Palace side IMO. Pulis only left thursda. They are not goldfish. All the prep has been done for them.

This game depends on when Arsenal score. I think 2-0 more likely too and id take it right now.

FFS Giroud on the bench and he's my fantasy football captain... Of course.

Sanchez to carry my FF team to glory? Shellshocked Palace could collapse or be superb.

The grass is a much lighter green colour today, thank god. The groundsman must be a boardsie :)

A lot of our players getting it hard to stay on their feet, is it slippy or over-watered I wonder?

Whatever about overall as a player but Debuchy's crossing is way better than Sagna's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Sanchez and Debuchy has real potential to be something special down that right wing. Overlaps galore.

    Debuchy >>>>>>>>>> Sagna

And I say that as a Newcastle fan.

Missed the first 10 minutes or so, looking fairly ponderous as usual.

Its only a matter of time IMO. Arsenal well in control, Palace offering very little.

Palace are well setup with good players. Don't know why anyone expected a walk in the park.

    Chambers looking very assured.
I'd say he could play anywhere on the field even in goal.
    Very confident and impressive.

Palace playing with ten in their own half and 2 banks of 4 behind the ball for most of the game so far. This is not going to be easy.

Great work from Sanogo but then that shot :o

    Far too slow in midfield.
    No quick through balls.

Palace doing well. Look very well drilled.

    Oh dear.

As much as I'm pretty happy with our summer signings so far if someone told me at the end of last season that we'd be starting with sanago up front on the opening day of the season I would have got a little sick.........

Hoping if I write this I'll jinx it and he'll score ;-)

Any corner taken should have a man on the far post, those flick goals from corner are more likely than a near post header, it annoys me no end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Cracking header, but Koscielny was comatose there.

We really miss Mertesacker in the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,408 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Jack is too slow. Doesn't look fit and either giving the ball away or is dispossessed.
This is going to be harder now that they have the lead.
    More urgency needed.

Chambers had nothing to do with that goal. It was Koscielney.

Like I said I missed the first 10 minutes but I'm pretty sure I've heard some variant of "Given away by Ramsey" 3 times since.
