secure gate for old person

I want something for an elderly person to sound an alert in the house when garden gate opens. Wireless and simple to use. any ideas?

is there an existing intruder alarm on the house itself ? you may be able to add a magnetic contact on the gate and when opened the alarm panel in the house will chime

What you could do is get someone to fit a set of automatic gate safety photocells on either side of the gate and connect them up with a buzzer or 2 in the house.

something like this, is it to alert the person that the gate is opened? if so would this do the trick? check the lenght of the run though

By the looks of that it won't last long on our wet climate. Also it is a beam and subject to a lot of false activations
