    From Tullow Community School
    Return to School

    DearParent/Guardian,

We hopethat you have had a pleasant summer and look forward to working with you overthe next academic year. As you are probably aware a great deal of developmentwork has been taking place on the school campus during the holidays. Whilst theschool will reopen as originally planned on 26th August 2014 we havehad to reschedule the return dates for certain groups as set out below in orderto facilitate the completion of essential aspects of the refurbishment work which is beingundertaken as part of the overall school redevelopment and extension project. The focus of the work to the existing school buildings over the school holidays has been on essential safetyupgrades to the building services and fire safety improvement works.

Theextent of this work, which needed to be undertaken between the end of the stateexams and the recommencement of the school for the 2014/2015 school year, wasalways challenging; this has been compounded due to the poor condition and complexityof the existing building services (electrical etc) which were encountered.

We havebeen in ongoing liaison with the building contractor Stewart Tracey JV duringthe summer months with regard to the progress of these works and do notanticipate any further adjustment of the dates set out below. We are extremelysatisfied with progress to date on the project generally and in particular theefforts of the wider project delivery team to complete these essential worksfor the start of the new school year.

It shouldbe noted that there will be an adapted traffic plan in the car park in order toallow for the construction of the new administration wing of the school. Alsofor the next academic year, specific rules and restricted access will be introducedon the campus in order to ensure that students remain safe during theconstruction process. This will include the use of specific entrance/exit doorsfor each year group.

Return To School Schedule (theschedule is dictated by the number of rooms that are available to the school onthat day):

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of these revised dates, however we assure you that the safety of the building and those who use itremained the priority in making these changes to the return to school scheduleand we appreciate in advance your understanding.

    School Return
As you may be aware there is a considerable amount of development work taking place in the school at the moment. It is intended to review the progress and schedule of the return to school during Monday the 18th of August and following those meetings the school will issue a letter to all parents giving them the dates of return for each year group. It is hoped that we shall be in a position to start reopening the school on a phased basis from Wednesday the 27th of August for some students and to return to full student capacity as soon as possible. The information will be available on this webite also from early next week.
