Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Right lads, the time has finally come. After 13 months with the phone, some jabroni managed to rest his pint glass on my phone, rendering it smashed and unresponsive. eBay suggests circa €70 for a screen/digitizer. How bad a DIY job?

Jaysis lads, I was using my OPO charger in a SGS3 overnight, the thing melted and fused into the phone charging port, lucky there wasn't a fire.

    Ouch!

Have you applied the latest firmware update? Some of your app will need updating afterwards. Nothing a reboot shouldn't sort.
I had an issue with the camera after latest update was applied. I just powered off the phone and back on, it sorted the problem.

I get LTE with Vodafone in some parts of Dublin.

Think Vodafone are slowly rolling it out, but not sure if there is much LTE coverage outside of Dublin for the OPO. Perhaps in Cork since it's a city.

After the last update, mine did but it had got fixed when a hard reboot and clearing the cache.

I got a lot of app updates yesterday and my battery has taken a serious hit since. The battery drained quicker than I've ever seen yesterday evening and so far today.

Anyone disappointed with the Cardboard, go into a poundshop and get a headtorch, use it to strap it to your head, way better, the magnetic tape is the button replacement as has been said. Ive only tried the cheapest pair of plastic glasses from Dealextreme and they worked perfectly for me once I jury rigged a button from a magnet and washer I had in my toolbox, no clue about 20:20 vision etc I dont think the lens are adjustable...

urgh, screen went dead on my 16gb, went to return it through the RMA and they need to do a remote session to try and flash it despite me telling them i have tried it already.

to add insult to injury the schedule for the remote sessions is based on hong kong working hours and there are no remote sessions available in the next 14 days.

****ty service after looking after me very well with my 64gb model when the screen smashed.

Got this email from OnePlus yesterday

"Thanks for purchasing one of our limited edition OnePlus Cardboards!

As each Cardboard is unique, you can use viewer profiles to adapt to your own vision seamlessly. You can use these profiles on the Google Cardboard app for slightly different VR experiences. We’ve tweaked our very own viewer profile for you, tailored to the OnePlus Cardboard. Scan this QR code in the app to download the profile: qr_viewer_profile_v1.1.png

    X5SbLJY.jpg

Everyone’s eyes are a bit different, so you can also check out a few fan-made viewer profiles to see what works best for you. We’ve compiled them for you here, or you can create your own. Those of you with custom ROMs can also try changing your DPI to 480 or 400.

Soon, our app will be made available on Google Play for the OnePlus 2 launch! Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and social media for alerts when the app is released. See you at launch!"

To use the QR code above open the Carboard app on your OPO and the first thing it wants you to do is scan a QR code for the viewer you are using. Apparently there are many viewers you can try/install and the above QR code is the one designed for the OPO.

    Have fun.

I don't seem to have it as bad which I think is because of Greenify, but Snapchat (and the new Twitter) are both my biggest drainers today which is unusual as it's usually Spotify on about 5% on my commute to/from work.

I was having problems with my Cogito smart watch trying to connect using the "connected device" app that comes with the watch. It wasn't until I used the normal Bluetooth settings screen on the phone to connect that my problems were solved.

Cheers, tried that but no joy, it has to connect via the Android wear app and that's where the issue seems to be. Tried directly with the Motorola app but it still needs the Android wear to connect first...

I've installed avg anti virus recently, that's the only thing that I can think that may be blocking it so will remove that and see what happens..

How is everyone finding the battery?

When I first got it I was comfortably getting almost two days out of it, now im struggling to get one.

I have increased usage a small bit (using spottily at work for example), but didnt think it would have that big of an impact!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

Have mine a year now and with the most recent update I'm still getting a solid day out of it with heavy social media use, Whatsapp and Spotify. Not bad IMO.

That's normal for usage. No smartphone will go two days being used. I always charged my phones at night and wake up next day with full battery and repeat again that night.

I'd be ok if I had to charge it at night, but I need to charge it during the day at the moment. I wouldn't get past 7 or 8 o'clock if I didnt

Have a look at what apps are using it up?

I get through a day with mine usually no problem. Heavy usage days might bring me down to 20% by the end of the day but it's incredibly rare I'd ever be under 20%.

Have been finding this as well. Since the latest update it is driving me mad. then going to bed I'd have it on charge from maybe 10- 7 am and not even 50% charged on airplane mode. And wud always be charged on normal nite before after a notes charge

I don't use Facebook but the point is that the battery used to be fantastic, even with heavy usage, full location settings etc. "Use your phone less" or "don't use your phone to its capacity" is not a solution. It used to be fine, now it's not and it's not just a few people or a few rogue settings and apps, although some apps can exacerbate the problems.

Either they've used a batch of dodgy batteries where performance tails off very quickly, or something in the OS is draining it much quicker than it used to.

Everybody keeps raving about Exodus....I'm on stock at the moment but if I were to flash Exodus would I lose the ability to install ota updates? Not sure how that works with the OPO. For example I rooted my Nexus 7 tablet and it was a nightmare to update afterwards because of TWRP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭god's toy

Update on odd problem of the the wrong mic being activated on in cell calls:

So after a week of resetting, flashing and rooting I am convinced its both a hardware (modem) and software (android lollipop) problem. I have been speaking with Oneplus support all week and they suggested I was flashing it wrong... hmm, I said OK, you try it! and they did!

So last night at 10 pm one of the tech support logged into my PC and rommed my phone for me. Not surprised to say he was also unable to get the mic working within cell calls.

The oneplus staff have been very helpful in all of this but I think its time for a replacement handset now.
So the next step is I'm waiting on the email saying as much and off she will go.

I'm now thinking of not opening the replacement phone but in fact selling it as new (for less than full price) and getting the Oneplus Two.
Still love the One and I don't hold Oneplus to blame for any of this as they have been very helpful from the start.. I wish all my tech related support was half as good!

Yes, they've been turned off, especially google play services. Again, however, this is a compromise that you didn't have to do before battery life went to ****, and shouldn't have to with a phone that's working properly.

OK so I would is: Do fresh format of the the phone and install NO apps, but in fact leave it for a week, AS IS with no apps (apart from the google pre-loaded ones)
If your still having he same issues then I would be talking with Oneplus about returning the device. Telling them the steps you have taken thus far.

I myself am having problems but I'm not losing the head an/or trash talking Oneplus, but working with them to see just whats going on and how it an be fixed.

(Not suggesting your losing the head you understand, I'm just saying people tend too without trying to work with the support peeps first and mouthoff here and on other forums.)

on the first day i spent a long time downloading my apps and generally playing around with my new toy.
the battery lasted 2 days with a 20 min charge on the first night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,679 ✭✭✭MAJJ

    Hi Folks,

My one plus one is rebooting 3/4 times most days. Pattern is directly related to wireless as no crashes when overseas on only data.

Any logs or methods so I can check to pinpoint the issue to an app, OS or hardware?

    Thanks

What cable are you using? Is it the original or a long cable (e.g. 2m)?

What ampage is the charger, how long is the usb cable? The one that ships is 2.1A (2100mA) and 1meter so that's what will work best.
