Vodafone Smart3&Smart4 Settings

There are 2 Vodafone Smart phones a 3 &a 4 in the house.On the Home screen of the 3 a little red circle with a number shows up on Email &Messages but not on Whats App.On the 4 it shows up on none of them.Can any one tell me where Id find the settings for those on the Phone.I tried the various applications but couldnt find…
