    Hi guys,

I am planning to create a website with car parts and for customers sake I wanted to have registration check there to give you model and all basic info for user to be brought directly to parts for the car he owns.

Any idea how to get access to that database?

    Thanks !

    Here you go - http://www.benchmark.ie/

A sample of this in use is MicksGarage.ie (http://www.micksgarage.com/car-parts/) and Motorcheck.ie

Make sure that when you get the database you match the correct parts to the reg. Most of the online systems, here and UK, pick the wrong bulbs for my car so I don't bother buying anything from them.

Be aware that there are inconsistencies and issues with registration based parts searches like this one. Do a search on here for complaints about Mick's Garage and you'll see a few.

    A few ways it happens:

Registration database is not 100 % correct - e.g. a car is recorded as a 1.6 when it might be a 1.8; the spec level is not recorded or recorded incorrectly.
There was a model change or VIN split during a given year: depending on when the car was registered the parts might be different.
There are minor differences between models depending on manufacturing location or parts supply during manufacture.

The list can go on. This isn't to say a registration check is a bad place to start, but be aware of its limitations and warn your users well in advance.
