Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    No more a fitting way to remember Ollie on his 7th anniversary than to beat Pats in the FAI is my only guess!

    FAI Cup quarter-final draw:
    Shels/Pat'sv Bohs;
    Drogheda v Derry;
    Rovers v Dundalk;
    Avondale/St Michael's v Finn Harps.

    Rovers vs Dundalk is final worthy, cracker of a tie. Although they'll meet in the League Cup final.

    Bohs in a Dublin Derby is nice in that we only have to travel across the road as opposed to across the country. The home draw eludes us yet again.

    There's gonna be a non top flight team in the semi final, that's massive for whoever advances there.

    Drogs vs Derry is the tough one for me to call.

    Interesting draw

    Please Please Please let Shels win tonight...no disrespect but I'd fancy us any day of the week against them.....Finn Harps in the semi's and boom ''She wore a Bohs ribbon'' Bohs are going the aviva.

    Not to put too much worry on Finn Harps fans but I reckon Avondale will beat St. Michaels on Saturday, which means a long long trip down to Cork for the quater final. I've watched alot of Avondale games over the last two years, along with popping down the road to Cobh to check out the 1st Division, and Avondale would more than hold their own in the 1st.

    Your league game will have to be moved, one of you will progress and it's the cup weekend.

    Has a date for the fixtures been announced? Can only see it mentioned they'll be played the weekend of the 14th.

    Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Such a poor WUM attempt, very poor, especially from a Cork fan.

    Two of the floodlights out, two working, supposedly the they have a separate transformer per 2 floodlights and one blew.

    Fixed for next Monday 8pm supposedly.

    Sorry meant 4 for one transformer and 4 for the other.

    Guessing the changes were due to Friday coming up, and a tough game on Friday in Richer.

    Two games called off in just over a week and people slag rovers off for renting a modern ground?

    Floodlight failure due to a transformer is blowing is hardly something one can be prepared for, digging up a pitch is a different matter.

    Thought a back up generator was required for licensing?

    I'm no electrician but the problem was the transformer, not the supply of power. Wouldn't have made a difference.

    Setanta Final should have been called off because it was a swimming pool in the 2nd half and a game was called off on it the week after so Rovers cant really talk about poor grounds, Its also in the bottom 3 of grounds for atmosphere in all the League!

    Before you start, our pitch is FANTASTIC. Hadjuk Splits manager has said it was just as good as any other Astro pitch they ever played on!

    Only ever gets brought up when we win at home against the "big" sides...Prob get it Friday night after we beat Bohs, sure why else would we beat them! Its the pitch!

    That was because of torrential rain and AFAIK, the drainage was worked on over the summer as a result.

    Delighted for you. At least something in he ground isn't a 70s looking deathtrap.

    So the pitch was worked on over the summer as a result of it basically been not fit to hold a bit of rain! How about giving Shels the chance of fixing the issues they had before you start with the "Rovers" big club ****e!
    Since the Council decided to do up your pitch (fair play for not having to pay for this) and its 100% now means Rovers fans can give out about other grounds (without them been giving the chance to fix any issues)

    Id rather a 70's looking deathtrap (which apart from a Pats fan who tried to climb over a security fence, has never caused any injury to any fan) which can actually create an atmosphere compared to a modern stadium in Tallaght which has no atmosphere at all!

    Thanks for Stephen Kenny though, Irelands number 1 :cool:

    It's not done for free.

    The council gets a large amount of rent.. The council has to upkeep facility.

    As opposed to:

    The club owns ground. The club doesn't spend money on ground. The ground is a sh1thole

    Happy for Kenny as well. Decent guy that couldn't handle the pressure in Tallaght but will do well elsewhere. f he's going to win the league, Id rather he did it in Dundalk rather than at our rivals.

    As dan1895 said, no issue with the supply of power. Even aside from that, you as a Cork fan, should know licensing isn't up to scratch!

    This sums up a lot of issues in the LOI. Oriel is indefensible..

    Because of an electrical fault? Did you say the same about SPL or La Liga matches which were abandoned in recent times due to floodlight failure?

    Kenny has by and large had to spend less extreme amounts to be successful, whereas Fenlon has been more successful with those extreme amounts.

    it's a tossup between them IMO.

    I disagree. You don't often hear people downplaying Mourinho, Ferguson etc. despite the fact that they spent more than everyone else.

    Kenny has won 1 league title, Fenlon has won 5. Kenny's came while managing a Bohs side who were the 2nd biggest spenders in the league. His second is probably going to come while managing a team who are still at least 2nd biggest spenders in the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,170 ✭✭✭Hard Worker

    You don't need a back up generator for licencing. You do, however, need one to host a UEFA fixture.

    Fenlon is a better manager than Kenny.

    Rovers spend far more on their home ground ( in rent to SDCC ) than any other club in the League. Dundalk have choices, as they own their ground. They choose to spend on their squad rather than facilities. Two of Rovers best fans, who happen to be ladies in their 70's, have always been refused access to toilet facilities in the main stand.
    Too many grounds falling apart - Tolka, Dalymount, Oriel, while others like Turners Cross, Showgrounds and Tallaght pull way ahead.
