How does the 1 Year Graduate Visa work?

    Hi there, I am interested in wondering how the 1 year graduate visa works?

    I am about to graduate(hopefully after a repeat), and am thinking of going to New York on the Visa.

    Is there a set date for it to happen or can I apply whenever I want?
    Do I need to have a job arrnaged before hand?
    Also I seen somewhere that you are allowed to work wherever you want for the first 3 months then must find somewhere in your field?
    How strict are they on this? Could I just work in a pub/resturant for the 12 months?

    BTW Im doing a computer software course.

    The last point, is no. I was reading a girl was recently caught working under the table on this visa and was subsequently deported.

    you have to find a job in your field as far as i know after 3 months. but ur ok up until then....when are you thinking of going?
