Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    He lost it. Full stop.
He should have been sent off for punching earlier too

That's what I said, he lost the head.

Lucky to win the game but better to get away with murder with points than with none.

Now a penalty for Real. Bale scores. Mad.

I dont like the way Referees in Spain give a penalty every time the ball hits a players arm in the box whether its intentional or not.

Even more stupid is that its a mandatory yellow card .

Just seen that Neymar goal there. Ridiculously good. If him and Messi can keep going the way they've started the calendar year and Suarez finds a bit of form this could be one epic title race on our hands.

Dropped today wouldnt be shocked if Suarez was sold, doesnt seem to fit in a team that has to breakdown 10 man defences. Much better with space to run into.

Valencia 2-1 up against Sevilla in a good game at the moment. 3 penalties awarded, alves saved baccas second one.

Just lost the head a bit really, that's all.

He hasn't been playing all that great lately. Ahem, 'great' by his standards. If it wasn't for penalties we would be analysing his form more seriously. Last couple of games haven't exactly consisted of him setting the world alight.

Everyone has their dips though and this is the perfect time of the year to be doing it. I can't see Madrid slipping up in their Champions League knock-out game. So they've got time to find their feet again.

Really think the blame being administered on Bale is out of proportion.

3-1 win in the end. Great season so far, especially at the Mestalla. The best team at home in the league (last minute Busquets winner the only defeat this season).

    Some ball by Suarez

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

I'd say it's a rare occurrence for anybody to score within the first minute of a kickoff (1st min or 46th min) 3 times in their career. Yet Torres has managed this within coulple of weeks in the same competition and against Barca & R. Madrid!

Type of goal I'd expect Suarez to be involved with, think he'd get a lot more joy at Madrid because Barca don't play like that as often

Was wondering why it was snowing in Spain for the last 5 minutes until I realised I switched to the Spurs game. Doh!

Seems like the aggro taking place at the club has helped galvanise them since it has gone public.

Gabi sent off at half-time, Arda throwing his boot off the pitch.

    Atleti have lost it.

Lucky he didn't hit him otherwise he'd have been sent off and given a lengthy ban.

No, no, some Atletico players destroyed this game.

There should have been more than two reds.
    They went bananas.

Jesus that was the craziest game I've watched in a long time, highly entertaining though. The whole team lost the plot completely.

    Brilliant first half.

Aleti's ill discipline cost them dear. Not the first time this season either. They don't appear to have that balance between the pushing the limit and going well over any more. Messi deserves special commendation for not retaliating. Neymar almost lost the head at least twice, Iniesta spared him big time.

    Which all begs the question?
Why didn't Atleti try to stir up Suarez?

Such a pity the sending off happening but in fairness it had to. That was a hacket job from Atleti at times.

Highlight of the night: the Linesman assaulting Jordi Alba.
(Maybe that's why Arda threw his boot at him?:pac:)

Can someone explain to me why Ronaldo only gets a 2 game ban for a straight red card?

Is that the rule in Spain not like the 3 game ban in England?
Or have they reduced it by a game so he is back for the big Madrid derby

Having to play against Ath. Madrid is actually part of his punishment, as we have seen tonight, it's not good for your health and well being.

    Atleti mirror their manager.

You can't fault Cholo Simeone for passion, but his team at times, like he does, lose the plot completely.

8 yellows and 2 reds is a crazy stat for one team. Atleti were a disgrace last night

Same reason why Simeone got an 8 game ban for what happened in this years Super Cup, but Jose got a 4 game ban a few years ago with 2 games suspended (for future super cups). Its Real Madrid and they are untouchable.

Just like any bully, they were picking their battles wisely. How often in their careers have Messi and Iniesta lashed out at people? Even Neymar is a fairly easy-going guy and although he may get a bit worked up, he's not likely to do anything terribly risky, it's just not in him.

Suarez on the other hand... it's like going alone to dinner at Hannibal Lecter's.

Brainless stuff from Atletico Madrid, Simeone has to have a word with Turan for what he did. The yellows and reds picked up when it was 2-3 should be punished internally, considering the tie was over.

Getafe or Villarreal in the semifinal, not the easiest of draws

It's getting completely ridiculous. The amount of favouritism towards the big two in Spain is so predictable that I don't think anyone expected Ronaldo would get any kind of lengthy ban for two off-the-ball strikes to the face. Twitter was awash with jokes of how the LFP would somehow manage to downplay Ronaldo's transgressions immediately after he was sent off.

On the other hand, Rodrigo de Paul got a 4 game ban for this early in the season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNweNczt2Tc.

Throw an arm back while someone is dragging you back and catch opponent in the face. Play for Valencia= four game ban.

Kick and punch two separate opponents in off-the-ball incidents in one match. Play for Real (and your name is Ronaldo)= two match ban.
