Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

8 yellows and 2 reds is a crazy stat for one team. Atleti were a disgrace last night

Same reason why Simeone got an 8 game ban for what happened in this years Super Cup, but Jose got a 4 game ban a few years ago with 2 games suspended (for future super cups). Its Real Madrid and they are untouchable.

They seem to be a team of hatchet men .They stepped well over the line last night.

The turning point was Griezmann's shot hitting a Barca player ,Alba I think, not being a penalty and Barca scoring from the resultant break.

If that were a Real players shot I guarantee you that would have been a penalty .

Alba's involvement in Barca' third goal was amazing. His 'block' in his own box and then seconds later the vital stretched assist from Messi's overhit pass. 36km/hr apparently was the speed required to make it there in time.

Simeone has to have a word with Turan for what he did.
He can't though. People in glass houses can't throw stones. How could you take simeone seriously if he was talking to you about discipline.

I really don't think he was intending to hit the linesman. Not that this makes what he did ok at all, but for me it was more of a random throw in anger that easily could have hit the linesman, and because of this he should have been sent off anyway. But I don't think there was intent to hurt.

I think if he was aiming to hit him from where he was, we'd be talking about an incident where he skulled the linesman in the head and was looking at a sizeable ban.

Can someone explain to me why Ronaldo only gets a 2 game ban for a straight red card?

Is that the rule in Spain not like the 3 game ban in England?
Or have they reduced it by a game so he is back for the big Madrid derby

I read that the ref in his post match report didn't refer to the ronaldo incident as dangerous play or whatever the correct term for it is, which would have meant it would have been a standard 3 game ban. Instead the decision falls to the Spanish disciplinary board I believe and it's rumoured it will only be a 2 game ban.

TLDR: political bull**** in reals favour, hardly anything shocking.

Wouldn't be the first manager I'd hazard a guess to employ double standards in private.

Throwing stones, picking up suspensions and bans when it was 2-3 and 2-4 on aggregate is pointless, so maybe he needs to smash some glass.

Only watching Atleti v Eibar now.

Can't remember when I have seen a pitch in a worse state than Ipurua was today.

The midfield area looked atrocious and the ball would just stop dead when passed from player to player.

Don't know how the game went ahead.

Dont recall a spanish tv game being called off ever?

    Anyone recall one?

Villarreal 1 up and a Real Madrid player the scorer.

Let's see what Barca are made of.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Messi changes the game, it was looking quite bleak but Messi springs into life at the right time, he runs at their defence, he picks the pass to Rafinha whose left footed curler draws a diving save from Asenjo which rebounds to Neymar who scores another big goal this season. 1-1, it should lead to a rip-roaring second half.

Criminal from Pique on two counts. Terrible mistake initially to let Santos in and then he let him come inside far too easily. Really poor stuff.

    Great response though.

What a player! Rafinha Alcantara steps up to the mark, he's a sublime talent. Fantasy football to make it 2-2....

Oh I don't believe, the sound of the Camp Nou tells you everything you need to know, it's Messi, it's Messi to the rescue again, it's always Messi. That right foot alone is worth 500 million.

why is suarez not doing it at barca? i dont get to watch every game. one in every 3-4 at best excluding their big games so ive no opinion. sad to see him being a passenger. i idolised him last season at anfield.

well, he played a huge part in the 2nd and 3rd goals...

He obviously cant play the same way as he did - Barca just dont play that way. He's still contributing plenty though, and ill only adapt better. Wouldn't worry about him.

He's doing fine, if perhaps not scoring from the halfway line like the EPL.

He's also effectively there only three/four months so far

He's not on the same wavelength as his teammates. He's also not burying the chances he's given. Still adjusting to things.9/10 times a move breaks down at his feet or run. They're getting noticeably better though

Why? Seville are a good side, going for a champions league spot. Why o why would they lie down and get whomped???

If they get a hammering, maybe its because Real Madrid are probably the best side in the world with amazing players, and theyre at home. I doubt these would lie down though.

They always do vs Barca Real.

Strong team by Emery, should be level by now.

Sevilla have been good and created a number of chances.

Injury to the keeper will throw them though.

Aspas scores his second in two league games.

Its not live on sky, showing it at 5.

So avoid this thread if you intend on watching it delayed :)

Best player in the world, once again, not turning up in a big game when his team needs him.
