He's really gone off the boil of late, hasn't he?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,188 ✭✭✭Montroseee

So has Bale too, been poor enough by his own standards for a few months now.

Maybe problems with his knee? Doesn't look fully fit.

This is perfect if things stay they way they are. Atleti will be back in the fold big time! :D

Regarding Ronnie, he's not the same since the start of the year. His attitudes shows more than the norm. I suspect though that's because of the ridiculously high standards he sets for himself. He knows he's not at that level currently. Still ahead of everyone. I'd have Messi ahead of him this year so far - and by a bit of a margin too.

I would agree that he doesn't look fully fit, perhaps the knee is giving him bother?

    Could have been red

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,570 ✭✭✭Ulysses Gaze

That should have been a straight red. Disgraceful "tackle" on Bale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,657 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Disgraceful tackle. Blatant red. Not a good weekend for refereeing.

    Benzema scores, Ronaldo created it

What's the story with the CL Barca match, is it not being televised on Irish TV at all?

Great weekend for Real. Brilliant header for Ronaldo. barca seemed to have their eye on Europe.

3 weeks i think till Barca real. Real will need to maintain that gap as think Barca will beat them at home.

Apart from the penalty, the Best Player in the World has been anonymous.

Brilliant by Moreno and just what Villarreal deserve. They've been excellent.

A team like Chelsea will fancy their chances against Real in the Champions League.

They may be great going forward but defensively, no matter who is their centre back pairing, they are a shambles at times.

I must apologies to him. Initially I'd thought he dived to get attempt to get real reduced to ten and win the penalty.

Said it at the start of the season letting Alonso go without a capable back up for khedira was silly. It's their only imbalance and right now with sami out and likely off form for the business end of the season it's a glaring weakness.
They basically have the same problem arsenal do.

Great game and Villarreal deserve the draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,657 ✭✭✭✭CSF

I dislike that the thread has ignored that Ronaldo actually won the penalty that he scored aswell as scoring it. That fact is significant.

That was a great game, Villareal really should have done better in the last minutes with that 3 vs 2 counter attack.

Yeah they will give up a few chances to most decent sides ,they have a soft centre now .

I thoroughly enjoyed that match tonight though ,both sides gave it a go,it was a joy to watch .

Chelsea are the opposite of them ,a horrible anti footballing team that will just park the bus against any sort of even half decent footballing side.

Mourinho's spell at Real seems to have made him even more negative as a manager, before he'd only park his bus against a few teams now the bus is being deployed very regularly.

    Penaldo strikes again!

You think hate for City is embarrassing but using stupid and childish names is not?

    Weird.

Jesus that Spanish director really went all sadist on Busquets' injury!

Piña deserved to walk after that tackle on Neymar. Horrendous "tackle".

Espanyol falling apart here. 2-0 down at home against Athletic. 3-1 down on aggregate.

Couldn't find a better place to post this so I'll just ask here.

Heading over to Barcelona for a mates birthday at the end of April and planning on going to the Getafe game, anyone got any advice on where to sit, there's plenty of decent seats left, north and south stand lower tier seem cheapest but I presume you'll need to go middle tier at least to get a decent view? Prices in Tribuna are pretty steep, as is Lateral unless you're going top tier.

    Ronaldo's rubbish free kicks

Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to score from a direct free kick for Real Madrid in over 10 months, according to Spanish daily AS.

Ronaldo last hit the back of net with one his trademark free kicks in the 4-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals on April 29, 2014.

The record means Ronaldo has not scored directly from a free kick in 51 attempts, with statistics showing 21 hit the wall, 14 were off target and 16 were saved by the goalkeeper or hit the woodwork.

Bet he'll score one against Bilbao now. :pac:

    No doubt :D

His free kicks are spectacular when they go in ,but the problem is hardly any do go in due to his poor technique .

He reminds me of Roberto Carlos, who scored one outrageous free kick against England for Brazil and unsuccessfully spent the rest of his career trying to repeat the feat.

It must be frustrating for his team mates as Ronaldos free kicks are essentially a waste of time.

For a player so adept at stat padding you'd have thought he'd have opted for a more traditional style long ago.

I don't watch la liga much, but decided to tune into the Madrid game today. Can anyone explain why sky sports didn't broadcast the first 15 minutes of the game? They were on air but just nattering away in the studio while the game was already underway, then they join the action 15 minutes in. Weird! Can anyone explain what's going on with that?

Not allowed to show live football during that time on a saturday in the UK.

    Real a goal down.
