    The end.

    Alves with a mammoth performance.

That's the difference between Messi and Ronaldo, Messi would have tried his heart out and got a result for Barca. After That peno miss, Ronaldo went missing when Madrid needed him most.

They only need the one win. You'd fancy them to beat Deportivo.

Messi went missing all last season to be fair

This 'needed him most' thing gets an awful lot of airing. Hat trick last week to keep them in the race until today. Shocking defending and an inspired keeper were the difference.

Thats not Ronaldos fault, he was really trying he just didnt have his day today. What it bothers me is that, he could feel he wasnt doing well but he didnt let other players kick the last fault or even the penalty. Sometimes his ambition loses him... not letting others try when things are not going his way is probably one of his greatest defects...

Is it just me or Pedro ignore Messi's embrace when he scored?

2 draws does them cause of the head to head doesn't it?

Pedro has been under a lot of pressure lately, he wanted to celebrate with the fans as it could be his last goal in Barcelona

No, Real won 3-1 on the first leg and lost 2-1 on the second so in case of a tie Real would win

Ah yeah that makes sense. Also just remember Pedro's last appearance had an emphatic celebration with Leo.

Real Madrid have hit the frames of the goal 30 times this season in the league alone!

Dont understand the Ronaldo hate cos he is a gloryhunter, the chap is utterly relentless in his pursuit of being the best.

I would love someone like that at my team, i would get over the petulant glory hunting real ****ing fast.

He is very petulant but his accuracy and speed make up for a lot of his behaviour. I suppose people compare how humble Messi is to Ronaldo and the latter always falls short in that respect. He is a beautiful looking man with a body to die for. Any woman who has ever seen those Armani ads will testify to that. He makes Beckham look jaded.

I have a lot of respect for Ronaldo and his abilities but being petulant when your team mate has scored is the behaviour of an asshole.

Im not denying he is an attractive man but more females i know have no attraction towards him over actually being attracted to him.

This season Valencia got 12 points out of the possible 24 against the top 5. Sevilla got 3. That will likely be the difference between the Champions League places in Spain, and it's why Unai Emery's contract wasn't renewed at Valencia. For years he has never been able to get results against the really big sides.

Yeah I see nothing sexy about Ronaldo.

However, he did just donate £5 million to the Nepal cause. The guy is generous and grounded. That can't be denied.

That is incredibly generous. It's rather a pity that people may not see past the attitude he has to understand him better.

The league is done and dusted, Madrid's midfield is fairly poor without Modric

Vidal would be a great buy for them in the summer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

They need a quality DM. Like say Alonso. :pac:
If they got Pogba and Vidal they'd be awesome though.

Yeah, he has an attitude on the pitch. He is very petulant.

Off it though, he's intelligent. He has made smart investments, raised his son with the help of his mother, donated generously to charity and is never seen to be in trouble. He's a private man.

Celta with an utterly ridiculously penalty all but end Sevilla's hopes of fourth.

Ye because most parents neglect their kids, right? He makes his donations public. Attention seeking really.

How many times is Enrique going to insist on trying to pair Mascherano and Busquets? They kept getting in their way tonight. Barca couldn't pass the ball out. I know the tie was over but he seems intent on getting it to work. Even so, tonight was a huge risk to try that. Although, it wasn't as spectacularly bad as earlier in the season. Maybe they are getting somewhere?

Its now all over the internet and twitter that this is not true :( No money was donated to Nepal.

Seems like all you have to do these days is put a meme up online and people will believe it

Thank god, and we will see the only team that deserves to win anything with la liga.

They deserve to win everything in football year after year cos other teams don't play real football.

Spanish strike is not going ahead.

    To quote Sid Lowe:
So far this season, the LFP, the RFEF and the AFE have all threatened to strike. That only leaves the one group of people who would be entirely justified in striking: the fans.

Reports in Spain claiming Luis Enrique will be managing Man City next season. There is some plausibility to him not being manager of Barca. Club elections usually herald a manager change. Think Man City would be a mistake for any manager at the moment. That squad has far too many egos and needs a big clear out of players who's wages likely won't be matched elsewhere.

Manager gets 3 years wages for nearly 1 years work.

The Man City job, imo, is a perfect one for managers; they get paid a tonne of cash and take zero hit to their credibility when they get sacked quickly, because it's just what the club does. :p

What id give to live there. Been there twice this year and itching to go again!!

Good to see the games are going ahead any way. Suarez is doubtful for the Atletico match on Sunday after feeling a niggle during the Bayern second leg. He did train alone today though so fingers crossed. He adds so much to our attack. Winning the league in the Calderon will be a suitable course of revenge for last season :pac::D:cool:

Some interesting comments from Sacchi in relation to Ronaldo's fitness and his changed style of play due to injuries.
Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has not been fully fit through the decisive part of the season, according to former Blancos director of football Arrigo Sacchi.

"For three months now Cristiano Ronaldo has not gone past a player," Sacchi said. "He scores goals, as he is a fighter, but he is not fit."

In total Ronaldo has scored 52 goals in 45 La Liga and Champions League games this season.

Statistics show that 14 of these goals have been headers, 12 have been penalties, while just four have been shots from outside the penalty area.

The stats suggest that the 2013 and 2014 Ballon D'Or winner has noticeably changed his game this season, with less dribbles or long range goals, as he has become more of a specialist penalty box finisher.
