    Don't get me wrong I am fully behind the idea of going for the woman first. As I have often said in the word "girlfriend" the "friend" part comes secondary. but without that part it's going nowhere.     Actually you can see that with married men who have affairs. Very often the women they're cheating on are confused/gobsmacked because the "other woman" is older/less goodlooking/sexy than they are. It's nearly always down to a better emotional connection they don't have with their primary partner.

    i am not disagreeing with you but you have to make the move first becoming friends first will leave you stuck in the friendzone no guy wants to be there move first build on the friendship after

    Irish girls are idiots, completely non sociable especially in south county Dublin. Terrible poison mentality to life. Buuut American girls are loopers. American girls are very materialistic and vain in my experience. One of the girls I was seeing was American while I lived there, oh my god what a mistake.

    I'm noticing a bit of a trend here; the nations of women that are "stuck-up" or "loopers" speak the same language as the guys complaining, the nations of "good women" do not.

    Maybe a high language barrier is a positive for guys with pretty obnoxious views about women - If they can't understand you, they can't judge you by your attitudes?

    Well my experiences with Asian women is they're far more feminine and sweet and good natured. Whereas a lot of western women have a 'I'm a bitch and if you can't handle that then you don't deserve me' attitude.

    In my experience Irish women tend to be full of confidence and personality and can be opinionated. I'm quite opinionated myself, I like a lively debate and I won't bow down to someone in agreement just because I happen to fancy him or indeed because he's a man. I'm also one of the most decent and genuine people you'll meet, as are all of my female Irish friends.

    I get the feeling that 'sweet' and 'feminine' are being aligned with 'subservient' more than anything else here, which is what you might find with some foreign women who are from countries where the more traditional gender roles come into play.

    Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that a student working in Burger King in Ireland makes more money in a week than many of them make in a month? Try your luck at well educated middle class Thais and get back to me.

    In any even as I noted earlier in the thread go to any country in the world and ask a few men about "their" women and sooner or later you'll hear similar guff about how "they're all X and Y". It's a near given.

    the women from asia are coming from extreme poverty. the irish women and men have grown up in a celtic tiger. Because of a different environment, you have a different personality in general.

    People tend to correlate potential partners with individual status. So if the woman coming from an upper class background, she will in general look for a man of similar or higher status. And men do it as well.

    Its sad that we do this i must say. in my books you be with the person out of friendship regardless of status or looks or success or money

    To an extent yes. But the women I were hanging out with were middle class. And in somewhere like Japan and South Korea you can't really play the 'rich westerner' card.

    The truth is western men tend to be bigger and more masculine than Asian men. We're considered exotic, good looking but also gentlemen. Of course you'll also get Asian women who despise western people in general, but that's life.

    Here's an experiment you can do right now. Set up an okcupid account but set your location in Bangkok or Singapore and watch the interest come in. Then set it to somewhere like New York and you probably won't get a fraction of the attention.

    Well women in Japan and South Korea tend to be affluent but they still got the white fever.

    Maybe having a white boyfriend is seen as a status symbol. I don't know. It's a different game over there.

    From my experience you have to be a lot more subtle when complimenting an Irish girl. Telling her she has beautiful eyes or something like that will sound cheesy as fook. I agree that the non nationals are a lot more forward and you can be more forward with them. It's just easier to compliment them or admit you fancy them.

    Plus the Irish tend to socialise in same sex groups when they go out. We still have a bit of that "girls on one side of the dance floor, boys on the other side" thing going on.
