So basically you're saying if you're name was over the door it would be exactly the same, no need to effort or personal commitment. Dream on.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make? I have made absolutely no inference or comment about E. langtons ability, personal commitment or otherwise. Why are you so defensive about a light hearted comment i made to foxy about how John street would look in an imaginary world. An imagined world where the business located on John st, now run by e langton was run by some one else?! Jeez you really need to chill out man.

Hey, if you don't mean to denigrate someone's achievements and appear as a small minded begrudger then don't denigrate other peoples achievements.

Maybe if you chilled out less you might achieve something and then maybe you won't feel the need to denigrate other peoples achievements.

BTW, there was another pub on John street with the same name over it but it's gone now.

Is there any reason to call someone a small minded begrudger? Come on let's all get along.

I would like to echo this, any chance we can retract the talons and get this thread back on topic?

Yes, if you read the quote you'd see the reason.

That post completely dismisses what Langtons has brought to John Street.

When a poster flails their proboscis about they have no reason to complain when they get bitten.

But the rules on boards are to attach the post not the poster. I personally agree with you an said so in a post above but I don't go around referring to people small minder begrudgers.

You are getting carried away with yourself...I am actually bemused as to why you are attacking me? Why in the name of Jesus are you so upset over an imagined slight against langtons? What's your problem exactly? I have no problem with langtons nor did I denigrate him. Show me where and I how I insulted anyone? You are the only one slinging insults around here.

    Catbear is E. Langton confirmed.

I would have gone for a statue of Big Phil myself.

You are extremely defensive and obviously completely misinterpreted /misunderstood my post. I referred to how John st would "look" without langtons..i said it would probably look the same...you know what..it might even look better...in this "imaginary " world there might even be a better looking building there than langtons. In an imaginary world my house could be replaced by a nicer one. Doesn't mean I denegrate the one I have now does it?..Jees ..I can't believe I am even arguing with this irrationality. I like langtons and regularly socialise in the main bar and birdies. I go to the set regularly. The langtons are a very decent family and I hope the boy's have as much success as their dad. They are nice guys and I knew them in my school days...
Now...show me where I denegrated any one in my post or else climb down, get off my back and keep your bile out of what had been light hearted banter about a statue?

What are you insinuating? Please be specific? You seem to think you know me and are inferring I have not achieved anything? Thats a childish, petty and gross insult. .retract it or prove it? I

Hey guys, you are my very dear friends, yes a little banter is great fun, my inclusion of Mr E was an off the cuff sort of remark, when Catbear suggested that before you put up a statue the person needed to have passed on to a higher plain, I was thinking there was a great surge of support for Brian cody and Henry, I think I will delete Mr Langton and resort to Red Rum again, but please enjoy the threads, I have some unfinished business on the CAS, talk later Sincerely Foxy

I always imagined the parade as the location, but here works too.
I would like to see more details on what it looks like front/back/sides and measurements as well,

David Fitzgerald is not happy about the location.

You can hear what he has to say at 31.20

Ha I was going to ask what has it got to do with Davy Fitzgerald pacman.gif

Looks pretty small, sure I could just steal that :pac:

Generally the statue looks ok, but I'd like to see better photos of it, atleast its not the modern art nonsense that looks like nothing.

Curious if Davy is saying the location is not right, where exactly he wants it put

Are they going to change the avonmore logo on the statue if the sponsorer changes?

Or is it just an homage to kilkenny hurling over the last 20ish years only?

    Thats good question,
I'd have no problem with Avonmore being on it, provided they pay a sizable amount of the costs for the statue and its installation.

I believe it's the green patch close to traffic lights.

The above image is only a prototype. I don't think a real image as appeared yet.

Re the Avonmore logo. It would be a huge oversight to have that on the finished version.

Not sure if oversight is the right word, but I'm sure if it did remain then somebody may have financially benefited from such an "error"

Plenty of room on the parade for it, our own Davey Fitz wants it up around the top of John Street but imo it would be given some going over every Saturday night (if that's the right term :D) p.ss, sick, bottles etc.
