Dublin City Council Part 8 – Dollymount Strand Providing A Temporary Multipurpose Amenity Building

A Part 8 Planning Application to construct a temporary multipurpose amenity building on Dollymount Strand is due to be submitted.

Parks and Landscape Services propose to construct a temporary multipurpose amenity building comprising four 10 ft shipping containers arranged in cruciform shape on Dollymount Strand, close to the North Bull Wall to service water enthusiasts. These containers will allow for water sports enthusiasts to have a base on the beach during the season, i.e. April – end October. The containers will provide a more comfortable place for enthusiasts to change and offer a base for the operator to work out of.

PART 8 NOTIFICATION – BULL ISLAND, CAUSEWAY ROAD: PROVISION OF DISABLED PARKING IN PROXIMITY TO THE BEACH AND RE-ALIGNMENT OF CAR PARKING ON THE CAUSEWAY ROAD.

Parks and Landscape Services propose to create 10 parking bays for disabled vehicles close to the beach off the causeway road. The loss of natural area will be mitigated by the removal of an equal area of tarmacadam along the access road to the beach where the material from the disabled spaces will be transplanted.

On the causeway road itself, the earth bunds which were put in place some years ago to prevent traveller encampments will be reduced in width to provide for cars to be parked at 45 degrees from the road alignment. The tarmacadam surface of the causeway will be reduced from its approximate 10.8m width to 6m which is standard for vehicular access. The parking bays will resurfaced in a ‘honeycomb’ geotextile which will allow these areas to recolonise with the natural vegetation of the island.
