agree. as a GENUINE nuetral Dub, I thought the Ref gave Kerry a lot of soft decisions. And to cap it all, the only player to see red from all the brawls is a Mayo man.

As a genuine Neutral Galway man, I disagree, Kerry played the more direct and better football which is very alike Dublins current style, Cillian O'Connor deserved a red card and Anthony Maher should have got a Black Card

As a neutral, the ref's performance in ET left a bad taste in the mouth.

Well done both teams. Can't fault the effort of either side there

You can fault the last 5 minutes from Kerry. They were a scar on the game.

The criticism on here that's levelled at Donegal and tomorrow being dour and yet nothing said about that referee and the cynicism of Kerry.

Absolutely the worst passage of Gaelic football I've seen in decades.

Kerry, a pox on the game as always.

Ah Jesus James O donoghue MOM?? Does David Moran get no praise? He was MOM last weekend and this weekend.

Another game ruined by a incompetent ref.Kerry bullied their way to an all Ireland Final.Dublin will destroy Kerry by double score.

Thought David Moran was brilliant again.

Ref rode Mayo big time but Kerry had the bench and the fitness.

    Some entertainment.

I'd agree, the jumping on top of the player to delay the game tactic would be lambasted if Donegal did it. Complete cynicism.

J O'D very good to listen to in the interview. Miles better than the usual - 'tough game there today...take each game as it comes...won't take anything for granted etc. etc.' clichés.

I thought the penalties were all justified but one or two frees in ET to Kerry were extremely soft. Can't imagine Mayo will manage another year of playing at that level. The last three years have to have been extremely draining.

Guard absolutely totalled some stupid young fella trying to get at the ref and walked on calmly...

I have been saying for years that referees are ruining the game. Poor frees given today and another referee would give completely different decisions.

Ref was a disgrace from start to finish never mind the extra time.

The ref kept working on his leg, I really wonder had he just lost his legs before the extra time. Some rotten calls, particularly in the first 10 mins

Probably the final nail for Mayo now. Wonder how Horan will take the defeat?

It's going to be a easy All-Ireland for the Dubs now, that Mayo are out.

Donaghy will be a handful for Dublin if they make the final (not being cocky, just looking at it from our POV). He's given ROC a tough time previously when he wasn't on form, but at the same time ROC has stepped it up another level this season. Could be a brilliant battle.

Oh he was one of the Mayo selectors! He'll be in trouble for that.

The ref came under some attack there from the Mayo fans, even with the Garda escort.

  • Registered Users Posts: 541 ✭✭✭Hibbeler

What a fantastic game of football both these teams have given us today and also last weekend! Both teams showed great spirit and tenacity.

Feel bad for Mayo but the fact is Kerry were the better team on the day. Any talk on here of the referee 'gifting' Kerry is utter nonsense imo. Both teams missed chances to win

    Congrats Kerry,
We were out on our feet for the send 10 of injury time. Last week took it out of us too much i think. Epic contest again.
Ah sure we will be back again hopefully. Fans need to be thankful to the players and management for the effort, which couldn't be falted.

    Gutted......again! :)

yeah, i thought he might call on a replacement. suspect he was too afraid to say his legs were gone.

I re-wound to look at the garda push. Just after you can see fat man still on pitch arguing with stewards and daughter trying to stop him.

Mayo are a pity but ref cost them the game.

In Not normally bitter. But that ref gave Kerry so much Its hard to take. So many soft 14 yrd frees and 50-50. It was a bad bad performance. I Guess the gaa have the prospect of a dublin Kerry final. If dublin get past Donegal. I Think it will be a pretty one sided game. Id expect the dublin Forwards to destroy the Kerry back line. And with 3 weeks to prepare Either Team will have a plan for kerrys route one football. Mayo Not good enough once again but i cant help bit feel the ref played a Big Big part in the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Fcuking Northern teams with their pulling and dragging and killing the game.....you wouldn't see Kerry at that old craic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

I was convinced there was another semi final tomorrow, but judging by the posts here, Dublin must have won it last week or something. I'll just have to pay more attention I suppose

Pretty poor interpretation of an outstanding game. Two teams gave it their all and there was nothing between them.
Ref lost it towards the end of ET but Kerry had it won b y then . Mayo can feel aggrieved by 2 soft frees in 1st half ET but wasted a lot of chances themselves and should have been still there. Great advertisement for football and if tomorrow and the final give us half the entertainment, I'll be thrilled.

    David Moran was unbelievable today.

If Dublin win tomorrow they will have too much for Kerry in the final.

2 epic matches.Fair play to both teams for providing some great entertainment.

Sadly I suspect the media will focus too much on the unseemly scenes near the end rather than the great football that was played.

The big fat lad from Mayo should get a lifetime ban from GAA grounds.

Ref was poor and definitely helped kerry, but kerry were the better side. Should have done if much easier. Kicked some terrible wides in extra team. Have a real problem with their subs trying to kick their way on to the team and costing them scores.

What an epic game. We had goals, high scores, big tackles, red cards, mauls and even a giant fat man being taken down by 5 stewards while his daughter cried for him to stop!

Ha ha, was that on Sky? Hope so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Some of the melees at the end were a bit unnecessary, but Kerry were slowing the game quite a lot, and you are going to get frustrated. Was that Donie Buckley who got involved at the end? The Mayo fan who took 5 or 6 to move him was kinda funny, but will probably get a significant-ish ban at the same time, can't really be doing that.

An enjoyable game. Thought Donaghy was man of the match easily.

That hit on O'Shea as he was driving through in extra-time was incredible, was it Marc Griffin? Class.

It's going to be a easy All-Ireland for the Dubs now, that Mayo are out.

This makes absolutely zero sense. Kerry just beat Mayo and proved they are fitter and have a stronger bench.. exactly what you need to beat the Dubs?

Why are Kerry still being underestimated?

Cormac Reilly will ruin this game, always has to have the limelight.

    I posted the above earlier.
Cormac Reilly is a very poor referee and it's not uncommon for him to ruin a game and favour certain teams. Just ask Cavan people about him.

i agree kerry had the better footballers and deserved to win, but the referee gave about three soft frees to them. And thats coming from a neutral. I can understand mayos frustration with him. it was rough and tough everywhere on the pitch bar the mayo backline where the referee was pretty much giving soft frees to kerry. as far as i am aware the same rules apply everywhere on the pitch.

All i can say is that if i were the ref, i wouldnt be going on christmas holidays to mayo this year or next year for that matter:pac:
