Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't mind the ref not giving a black card if it's a pen, punishment enough IMO.

He should have given a card, either black or yellow.

Another goal. O'Shea is causing havoc. He is doing what Donaghy should be doing.

Can't release the ball when you've got 3 players on your back

Yes you can. You can drop it to the ground, he held onto it, right decision.

He was on the ground, he had possession, If you're kept from standing & pushed to the ground, that's a free

He held onto the ball for too long. It was a free. Maybe the Mayo players should have given him a hand up!

No, but if you push a player to the ground, and keep him ther, it's a free against you, simple

This is much better than last week (first half anyway).

    Atmosphere sounds unreal too!

If you are on the ground with the ball you need to get rid of it. He didn't! Simple;)

What is Tom Carr on about? Keith Higgins done a fine job defending there, was unlucky that the block deflected to Donaghey. And he more or less implies the goal is Higgins fault!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,551 ✭✭✭SeaFields

Donaghy is going to run riot all day long with the long ball. Im guessing second half, with the fierce wind marty keeps going on about, is going to be squeaky bum time for Mayo

Mayo need to stop clean ball going into the Kerry full forward line or they are toast. Donaghy will catch them all day long.

Enjoying this, impossible to call it.

3 players sitting on him, he should have had the free, enough said

He did do very well. But he also allowed him 4 yards of space when he caught the ball.

Didnt agree with the whole switch to the Gaelic Grounds but the atmosphere there seems unreal to be fair.

This match looks like boiling over. Ref in for hard time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,100 ✭✭✭Browney7

Ref needs to clamp down on all the scrums and jostling after every free. No need for it but neither team wants to lose face

Higgins doing a good job on JOD again

Even JO'D winning long balls in. Mayo really have to do something about that in the 2nd half. On the other hand Keith Higgins is the only player I've seen yet that is able to handle JO'D. Great defender..

Slender lead to say the least. I'd day advantage Kerry despite the score.

Not much of a gaelic football fan but that was pretty engrossing.

Is the wind as strong as Marty says, doesn't look that way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Nothing at all between these teams. Mayo may be a goal ahead but they've been clinical whereas Kerry have missed 4 or 5 extremely simple points.

Higgins is something else. I knew he was top class but the job he's doing on J O'D is something else considering Donaghy is winning absolutely everything on Cafferkey. He's the best corner back in the country playing in an average FB line.

Somebody said this last week, but I've only realised how bad Tommy Carr is on co-commentary...

Assuming they use the wind to bombard the Mayo full back line in the 2nd half. Donaghy winning everything so far

Entertaining stuff, a few twists and turns left in it yet.

Mayo really should've capitilised in that half. I'd almost say they're doing poorly to go in with a 3 point lead especially since they had 25 minutes of Shane Enright being on the pitch. Good to see Kerry can get on ok without relying on JO'D. It seemed to have been a popular opinion that if you stop O'Donoghue, you stop Kerry. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Unbelievable intensity in this match.Players have almost no time on the ball both teams are tackling ferociously all over the field.

I think Mayo are going to have to get Barry Moran to mark Donaghy in the second half.Long balls with the wind into Donaghy in the second half will destroy Mayo is any of their other players are left on him

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

The ref's letting a lot go which is suiting Mayo - masters of the 'half foul'. The way he was reffing it I thought the foul he gave when Kerry were through on goal was soft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Donaghy is having a very good game, huge impact.

Kerry dominated early on, but hit so many bad wides. Mayo have been far more clinical with their opportunities. Very interesting game, Kerry have bounced back well to the 2 goals.

Great defender but I would like to see him challenge him for the high balls rather than giving him possession and then defending.

Hope we get to see Donaghy pump some more fists in the second half.

Have noticed that. They are stopping Mayo taking quick frees and breaking their momentum. Ref has done nothing about it so far
