    Hi folks,
I'm fairly recently retired and am wondering if there are any interesting activities that I might get involved in, in Limerick.

    What have you in mind?

Part-time work, day time or evening time leisure activities, volunteering? What are your interests?

To begin with check out City of Culture events, some are free.

Volunteer with the city of culture programme. It runs until the end of the year and I'm sure you'd find something of interest to you.

OpenHouse Limerick will take place in October and will be looking for volunteers

It's not for everyone but the Corbett Suicide Prevention Patrol would probably welcome any help you could give. http://www.cspplimerick.org/

If you fancy some adventure you could do a kayaking course at UL http://www.getwest.ie/

Most education centres are gearing up for the new academic year and are enrolling for their different courses. http://www.qualifax.ie/ has a list of every single course that is taking place in the country, closing dates are fairly soon though so I'd get cracking on this if it interests you.

Personally if I were recently retired I would take some time to just do nothing for a while.

Limerick Animal Welfare are always looking for volunteers to help out at their sanctuary.

Would you not just do more of what you were already doing in your free time when you were working?

For a bit of exercise why not try setdancing in Dolans every Tuesday night at 8 ish. Good fun, all ages are there and the group finishes with a cuppa or a pint in the pub with musicians playing and a song or two. Nice way to spend an evening.

Check out some of the Probus clubs around town. My dad got involved in it when he retired and had a great time.
