    Hi all,
When wiring standard ceiling lights, should the live be looped through the ceiling rose or switch, what is best practice ?

Do you mean live to switch and then to fitting and secondly live to fitting into the middle connector then a pair of browns used to bring the live to the switch and back up. The first way is fairly standard and the second is called 3 plate. Both are fine

Basically what I'm asking is, when wiring say a standard house is the live wire looped from the ceiling rose from one room to the next or looped from the switch. Is there an industry standard practice here ?
I've seen it done both ways in Canada.

Both methods that you described are used.
Neither method would be considered bad practice.
