Well embedded tweets, any reason why these are only showing as links? Guessing it's something to do with my browser or because it's https?(chrome)

    Got an example?

If you could post a screenshot of how it's being displayed that would be a help alright. It's most likely to be a quirk of your browser, but I wouldn't want to say for certain without seeing what you're seeing.

I think he's referring to the fact that many browsers cracked down on mixed protocol content about a year back.

There's no image tags on that, it's just a URL.

    Thanks for that,

I can confirm that the Twitter link is behaving as it should for me (I went to the thread you've taken the screen shot from), so that does suggest that it's something on your side - possibly some of the Chrome Plugins.

    That's what I'm saying...

Any reason why it's just boards? I'm not the only person to mention it on the United thread.

But they're not embedded, they're just links, that's all they're meant to be.

Do you have an example from another site?

No those are tweets for other users, dav confirmed it a few posts up.

Here is the post I took a screenshot from, do you see the tweet or the same as me?

Yea, it should be pointed out that we quietly introduced a new feature that simply parses a twitter URL and displays it as per Twitter's own "widget" style - we've done the same for Soundcloud, Deezer and Spotify too. There is no action required by the person making the post in order for these links to be parsed in this way.

    [EDIT]

Here's a screenshot of the post you've referenced as I see it (in Firefox)

It was a very quiet introduction since I haven't seen a single example yet. That would have been worthy of a sitewide announcement I would have thought.

Edit: apparently it's only for the new theme.

Here is a different site were it works fine, so not sure what I would change in my browser settings hence the problem must be on the boards end

Yes, like all changes will for the last 12 months and on into the future - old skins are done and dusted, we're not spending any more time on them.

This is how I see that post in Chrome and Firefox. I didn't realise it should be showing as an image.

I'll pass this along to the tech team to see if there's anything we can do about it, but to my (very limited) knowledge, it is requested from source (be that Twitter or whoever) and rendered locally on your own machine rather than ours, so that would suggest something's not quite business as usual between your browser and the other platform's servers. But as I say, I don't have a huge working knowledge of how the tech behind this project operates and I'll need to find out.

It was Ghostery that was causing the problem, disabled it and all was fine. Sorry.
