    Anyone know where i might pick up an infrared thermometer and how much it would cost? Seen one a plumber had once were he just pointed it at a surface and it gave him the surface temp. Nothing too serious but just for use around the house. Cheers.

    Are they all much the same, accuracy and reliabilty I mean. I see on amazon they are the gun type, is this the type you got. The price is very reasonable if they do the job

    Well, a few actually. We've underfloor heating with thermostats in each room and they dont seem to be reading correctly. Also having problem with windows and condensation and trying to gauge interior glass temp

    Non contact ir thermometers are ok, but not that accurate as different surfaces will emitt ir differently, dependant on colour etc...

    You might be as well getting a thermocouple or thermistor based digital thermometer.

    Maplins had one for.......... €15?

    And they have DMM's with thermocouples for small money.
