Hi for the past few months about once a week I will wake up in the middle of the night gasping and chocking in my sleep. It's very frightening and hard to go back asleep.

My partner tells me I snore and I sleep on my side.

Is there anything I can do to stop this or do I need to see doc?

Maybe ask doc to be referred to a sleep clinic.. could be sleep apnea but doc would be able to help you more..

Being overweight is a major cause of sleep apnea.

either did I until a naturopath told me.. said when you are tired from lack of sleep you haven't got the energy and causes weight gain etc..

read a few interesting articles thereafter which seem to agree with this guy....
