Hi all, just wondering what health insurance policies might be suitable for my family. Hubbies me & 2 kids. We are with Aviva & daughter needed grommets & we weren't coerced to go to private hospital without paying 35% of stay.
Going forward we would like I be able to send her to any hospital we wish. Not too concerned about day to day although would like some cover for gp in particular. Also want to be covered for orthopaedic surgery as we do alot Of sport. This seems to be a huge cost raising with Aviva/ when I rang today they told me it's the same with Laya, but from my research it isn't. Aviva quoted me over 6k a year & laya 2.3k for same thing almost. The guy on phone did his best to confuse me, kept saying he can't compare as it isn't like with like. Which to a certain degree I understand but as I said to him I'm asking about particular thing from the laya plan as thy interest me. Anyway any advice appreciated. Thanks

I sent you a PM with the number of a health insurance specialist that I use. He is very good and will sort you out.

Wouldn't the OP be better comparing the different available policies here first ...

Is your friend the so-called 'health insurance specialist' offering a free service aimed at getting the best deal for consumers?

Or is he just another broker on commission?

Why don't you post his name on the public thread?

Given your activity on this forum in the past few weeks, are you here touting for business?

The OP has a problem and I offered her a solution. There are over 350 different health cover plans out there and it can be very difficult to pick the right one. The contact I have helps people find the best plan to suit their needs, why shouldn't he be paid for solving people's problems?

I won't post his name on this thread as he hasn't given me permission to do so.

I am a professional financial advisor and give my opinion and advice on here. If people want to contact me, that's up to them but I have not approached anyone directly offering my services.

Don't be afraid to mix and match policies. I'm on VHI. My wife and son are on Glo. And my other son is with Laya.

I never even thought of doing this, is there a reason why kids aren't on the same policy? I'm currently researching for my family, 2 adults and 2 kids (4 + 1). It's a job i hate doing every year. The main priority is hospital cover should we ever need it. The day to day we can manage, the kids are pretty healthy thankfully, older child hasn't been to the GP in the past 2yrs and the younger one less and less so all the time as well.

I'm on VHI as the policy has a good price for the cover I'm most likely to (but hopefully won't) need (cardiac). Kids are very unlikely to need enhanced cardiac cover so why pay for it?! The wife and son are on Laya as he's under 3 so goes free with a paying adult. The other son is with Laya as the dental cover on some of their packages is relatively good and he has had some dental issues previously.
