Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Strange there is no thread yet so I said I would try my hand at it, for the first time ever I believe!

The home team may name the side that played Swansea with Sam Vokes the only player missing out through injury I think. United missing a truckload, Rojo still waiting on work permit, Di Maria expected to make his debut

    Prediction?

    Burnley 1
    Man Utd 3

RvP to get on the scoresheet and hopefully Di Maria with a debut cracker

    Possible line ups

    Heaton
    Trippier Duff Shackell Mee
    Arfield Marney Jones Taylor
    Jutkiewicz Ings

    DDG
    Valencia Jones Evans Blackett Young
    Fletcher Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney RvP

I really hope we go more a 433 though

Serious pressure on United now. Surly they can't lose this?

Utd to win easy. They cant keep up this run of form surely

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭Demosthenese

Should be a cakewalk for United this ... but of course times are a changing ... it kind of depends if Burnley can muster up the courage to attack a United team that are struggling to adapt to a new style of play and are delving deep to find the confidence. Would predict a 2-1 type scoreline for United with Burnley missing a few chances that traditionally the promoted teams tend to do similar to Leicester v Chelsea.

    Will be interesting watching though.

I thought that last time we went to Turf Moor, wasn't a great day that time either!

Still, think this will be a tough game due to the injuries, but I think United should have enough quality there to get them through hopefully. The attacking players will hopefully compensate for the total lack of a midfield!

Big debut from Di Maria here I reckon. Uniteds confidence needs a shot in the arm and I think they might get it today.

I hate to say it (as a United fan) but United to be humiliated (again). We're massively low on confidence and Burnley will be hugely up for this.

    Burnley 3 Manchester United 1

Larry go back to bed and get up on the other side please.

You dont think Utd will be up for this? Get out of it man!
This is where Utds season must start. A must win here. Forget sbout the MKDONS result. That wasnt near the starting 11 that will be out there today. Di Maria for his debut. Hope he starts with s bang.
    Utd to win 2-0

Utd have spent more on di maria than burnley have spent on transfer fees in their entire 120 yr plus history. The whole population of burnley would fit into old trafford on a match day as burnley is the smallest town to ever have a team in the Pl. Burnley should be massive underdogs but probably believe they have an outside chance.

Can't see Di Maria starting this one but it's not entirely implausible that Van Gaal might feel he needs to do something to get the wheels in motion

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Although its very early days competition this part of the table is so tight (could be up to 8 teams involved) its vital that Burnley get their first win.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭newballsplease

Why do people think DiMaria wont start?
LVG has said he's ready to play.

    Start him ta f**k !

    Burnley 2 United 2.

Think we will drop more points I'm afraid

The worst thing about being in a bad run of form is that other clubs can sense it. Burnley will be looking at this fixture as a chance to kickstart their season. I can see them going at United from the start.

If Utd can weather the storm I think they have the quality to win the game.

First goal will probably decide the match.

Utd to win ... with a couple of scares along the way.

Fail to win this and serious questions will be asked about LVG. He could be turning out to be Moyes II. It's following a similar path.

He is safe (if only cos of the money spent), what it does do is put a huge pressure on to get the new look squad humming though - 1 point from first 9 in the "easiest" part of the season would mean a lot of work to make the top four.

Think we will win but it will be very tight. 1-0 to utd

No, there won't. There will be serious questions asked if the results continue like they are when he can pick an 11 from a squad containing a fit van Persie, Di Maria, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera, Blind, Carrick et al.

Isn't it terrible that we are looking at Burnley as a huge game.I wonder if some of our players will actually turn up today,it's as if some of them are still under the impression they are playing for Moyes and not their futures at the club.

One man who has to put in a shift today is Fletcher, he's our weak link IMO. He's going to have to be on song if DiMaria is beside him today.

I know what your saying but I think it doesn't really matter who we're playing, it'll still be a huge game at this moment in time.

To be honest, if we create lots of chances to score today, I'll be happy. It has been our biggest issue this past year. Agreed, the players are going through the motions at the moment and need to snap out of it quickly or they'll be out the door.

Starting XI: De Gea, Jones, Evans, Blackett, Valencia, Young, Fletcher, Di Maria, Mata, Rooney, van Persie.

Subs: Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck, James, M. Keane, Anderson, Amos.

Di Maria in 2 man midfield.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

What's the story with Rafael?? Also no Cleverley/Kagawa so that's them definitely gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,772 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

Very weak centre of the park for us today.

    Cmon United!

    Still injured.

  • Can't wait to see di maria in the number 7 shirt. He's going to provide two assist today, one for Rooney and one for RVP :P

We need a boost, 3 points are a must but I want to see a performance with us actually creating chances

Don't you normally put 6 attackers on the pitch when you're 1-0 down with 5 mins to go ?
    Strange line up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,586 ✭✭✭jaykay74

Subs: Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck, James, M. Keane, Anderson, Amos.

Weird subs bench. 4 forward thinking players, keeper, 1 defender and Anderson :(

Hopefully defense doesn't need much sorting out during the game.

One defender or midfielder goes down and you're bunched.

United to win 1-0 in an unconvincing manner.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Michael Owen might be boring as hell but at least he makes an effort.

But Paul Scholes really looks like he doesn't he gives a crap or want to be there.

Burnley have spent £45million on transfers since 1882.

Manchester United have spent £59.7million this week.

Is it just me or is anyone else just deeply suspicious of this 5-3-2 formation.

I mean tactical innovation is great but there has to be a reason that no-one else is doing this. No?

Is it based on the fact that Rafael and Shaw are out? Would someone like Vidal be absolutely necessary to go 4-3-3 or could you do a nice diamond with

    Herrera
    Di Maria
    Someone
    Mata
    ---Rooney---RVP

Or just stick Rooney on the wing and go

    Fletcher --- Herrera
    Di Maria --- Mata --Rooney
    RVP

    I guess I just don't get it.

And that's why Burnley never won the Premier League or Champions League...
You might as well have put Bohemians in there for all the relevance it has.

    1 central midfielder?

  • Angel Di Maria to score anytime 3.4 / 1

    Great price
