Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Toure on the bench ahead of Sakho again is pure nonsense.

How far away is Can or Allen from a start. Gerrard suffering in mf and surely not right for 2 starts this week. Worrisome.

Maybe Rodgers is hoping Gerrard will do a Rooney (foolish red card )or pick up a knock from playing every minute of every game so he doesn't have to be the man who drops Gerrard.

Maybe he should just grow a pair.

Is the game being televised on RTÉ 1/2 or TV3 tonight? If any?

    RTE 2

Well we all know Carragher doesn't nor never has rated Lucas.

Neville, Carragher and Souness giving Balotelli a huge amount of stick.

Here comes the Gerrard love in.

Just had to correct you on this Rushie!
'Luis Suarez has come in and done great things for the club but Lucas has been his equal in many ways.

'He has been as good as anyone in the team this season and there is no question he will be a big miss.'

'I have been there in terms of receiving criticism,' said Carragher. 'High standards are expected when you play for one of the big clubs and there are plenty examples of players who have gone missing after realising the demands on them.

'But you can tell Lucas is a top player as he never lets that bother him. He has just got on with it and plays in nearly every game. If he has a little knock, he will always try and carry on, doing his best for us. There are lots of different characters but you can't fault Lucas.'

Serious managers take the big decisions, if Gerrard was playing for Ferguson's Utd sides when Ferguson was at his peak he'd have been dropped for his recent performances.

The core of the team is not solid or stable as a result of his below par showing recently.

Not sure I agree with that....Ferguson had an awful habit of playing players off form or aging at silly times and losing points as a result. Especially G Neville and Giggs.

I recall Keane saying not too long ago that loyalty was one of Ferguson's biggest failings in this sense.

Markovic looks much better, certainly the best of the attacking midfielders. Balotelli has been pretty good.

Gerrard and Henderson look all at sea at times.

Tracking back very well too. Good for him tbh. Love to see him score

The team is crying out for a real midfield enforcer. Someone to break things up.

Mignolet to me just creates so much uncertainty in our defence.

Bollox Ferguson played an aging giggs in not one but two champions league final and was absolutely outplayed.

Haha oh ffs skrtel there rather having a wrestling match in the box than defend.

Rodgers style getting found out a bit in the CL by a very ordinary team tbh

What style? We have yet to play with any style this season, it's a shambles.

Sterling is having an understandable dip too, please rotate him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Rodgers just has to get it inside his ****ing head that he cannot under any circumstances play a two in the middle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,937 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Balotelli nees someone to play with up front with.

Two in midfield does not work.

    A defensive coach is needed.

    Sterling needs to be dropped.

You can see Henderson is so scared to break forward this season as he knows he is leaving Gerrad exposed so he stops his runs into the box to get back.

1 decent performance in 9 games is not good enough.

If Basle can beat Ludogerets home and away in the next 2 games (assuming we don't sneak a point tonight) we could be 6 points behind then with 2 games to play as I can't see us getting a sniff of a point vs Madrid in the next 2 games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,890 ✭✭✭✭klose

Why in gods name was sterling on the pitch for the whole game? Awful management.

We have lost all the intensity in our play from last year. Every player looks like their only operating at 70%

Fairly encouraging for West Brom this.

we are completely limp, insipid and playing like strangers.

    your move manager.....

Not a surprise really, Rodgers record in the transfer market is woeful

Why Keep Henderson AND Gerrard on? They offer nothing defensively or offensively and were playing crap. Made of teflon those two.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Just "ugh!", so much wrong with that from the start in the shape of the shape, which was wrong wrong wrong.

Hendo is utterly wasted babysitting Gerrard in a two man middle. Coutinho ought to have played on a diamond flank with Hendo and Sterling at the top, speaking of whom Raheem was as bad as he's been for a year and should have been hooked at half time for Lallana. He was dreadful - a succession of duff touches and bad "tackles" one of which ought to have led to a Basel penalty. The "two" middle just kills us every time - the opposition walks past Gerrard while no forward thrust is possible from that starting position and MBE is so damned slow he can't offer any forward momentum anyway.

Enrique did himself no favours either esp with Moreno on the bench though subbing a FB would have been unexpected and risky as it would cut down more pressing options.

When Allen returns it would be nice to think the manager would just take a chance and drop the captain, trouble is Gerrard will have had 14 days rest by the time the internationals are over so will of course be 'the first name on the team sheet' and on it goes.

What I'd like to see next game or two

    Allen
    Hendo--Lallana (or Coutinho)
    Sterling (or Lallana)
    Sturridge--Balotelli

Would probably consider us to be in a crisis now.

Rodgers is under pressure lads to get this right.

We are a shambles and the big money signings aren't doing much.

    Worrying performance that.

Season starting to copy that of 09/10 after we also finished 2nd.

Rodgers has a big problem on his hands.
