Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This. We've got 8 new players, it's going to take a lot of time to figure out which ones slot right in, which ones get there in a little while, and which ones will never get there. I'll be happy to get 4th this year, and then push on next year. Last year was amazing and you never know, it could happen again, but with 8 new players you'd expect an adjustment period.

I'd be happy enough with a draw today, and delighted with a win...

When you look at our back 4 they have less than 30 games for Liverpool between that will take time.

New contract for Sterling I hope - quick smart...

That's a good point, though if everything goes really well they could be our starting back four for years to come. The Optimist in me thinks that every great partnership starts somewhere!

It's interesting, I think the injury to Johnson (and possibly Skrtel's as well) means we've got the back four that could be the permanent one, but maybe a little sooner than planned?

Excellent first half from Henderson. Balotelli's finishing was shocking though.

    Like Reina & Agger maybe?

Why spend that wages for bench warmers?
Reins is quite poor now, wouldnt do for any top 6 premiership team as a starter.

    Gerrard has been Muck.

I lost count the number of times he gave the Ball away to a Spurs Player.

Sakho and Lovren are Shaky too.

    Balotelli looks Rusty.

He's putting in a great shift though, plenty of defensive contributions.

Full backs are looking really good so far, lovren and sakho will need time to gel so i wont be too worried about them just yet

Positives so far, Moreno, Manquillo, Sterling, Henderson and Balotelli despite the finishng.

Negatives, Sakho and Lovren. Sakho in particular looks so shakey when people close him down.

That was a very enjoyable first half of football. I really like liverpools lb moreno, haven't seen the likes of him in a reds jersey since mcateer;)

There was plenty of errors in the back but thats to be expected with all the new players.

How good was sturridge in the opening few minutes....

Because we should be aiming to have as strong a team/squad as possible

For a team that has 5 players in that have played less than 30 games for Liverpool including a back 4 playing together for the first time and a striker who is probably 3 weeks behind on fitness levels I think that has been quiet a good first half and looks very promising for the season to come.

Gerrard and Allen look out of place for me pace wise.

Sakho and Lovren will grow as they get used to playing with each other.

Manquillo looks like he will be a card magnet but he and Moerno look very bright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Washington Irving

Not too concerned long term about Lovren-Sakho. It's their first game together, understanding will come in time (plus they have a common language in French so communication shouldn't be an issue). Just hope another lapse isn't punished by Spurs this half

Getting those two off the books is a step in that direction.

Reina went to a club knowing full well his game time will be next to non existent, shows how much ambition he has and interest in resurrecting his career. But that debate is for another time.

Allen done nothing so far, i'm still amazed at how good sturridge is with the ball at his feet for a big guy.

Solid enough first half, hope we don't sit back we should be looking to kill the game off early.

    Sturridge is 5'10/11.

    He's not a big guy.

Not letting Mario take the peno is a waste IMO. Good spot kick from Gerrard though.

    No he isn't.

Baloteli is 6'2, he is way bigger than Sturridge.

Ahem! You will find that we are currently wining a match and that there is a serious risk of us actually winning it. You shouldn't be posting here.

    Sakho needs to Wake Up.

That's the 2nd Time he Passed the Ball straight towards a Spurs Player, only a few feet ahead of him.

Soft peno but i'll take it:)

He is quickly looking like a major concern. Paying 20m or so for him and just releasing Agger is starting to ****ing irk me too.

Sturridge in 183cm according the Liverpool official site, which is pretty much exactly 6'. Ballotelli in 188cm, which is 6'2".

    Wiki is wrong.

    What do your eyes think?

Does Sturridge look the same height as Henry, Drogba, Baloteli etc.

With Drogba and Luiz here, both 6'2 .

    Much smaller

Where do we fit Lallana and Coutinho? :P So many options, I'm loving it. Not since the glory years have we had depth like this.

I've been thinking about it, and I think Ben signs off his posts because he had the lack of foresight to call himself, "BenThere", instead of "BenHere", and he's terrified we might be looking at the wrong poster and thinking, "That's the Ben that fella was on about".

But in fairness Luiz hair adds about 3ft on it's own.

Well Spurs are getting better by increments 5-0/4-0/3-0 and so are Liverpool this season.

That goal will do Moreno a world of good, stop his sobbing every time he watches Seville on SKY.

Sterling was great, but oh for some consistency in his finishing he really could be a striker in all but name.

Balotelli did fine for someone effectively 3 weeks off the pace. The pace on display is has frightening potential. If only we could bag a Fernando type but it really does seem that Rodgers just isn't interested in that "blotting paper" type midfielder.

    everyone was right.

    we are worse without Suarez.

    just the 3-0 against Spurs.

    poor.

Still a bit leaky in centre of defence but hopefully that's just teething problems! Sakho had a nightmare in first half.

We put down a marker today, fúck the international break tho!
