Mig doesn't trust the CB's. They don't trust him.

Sign a defensive coach and get them working together.
We could also do with a good keeper coach. We haven't had one of note since Rafa's days

I don't think they trust him tbh

Tbh we will never be defensively "solid" while Gerard is our deepest midfielder and we play with offensive fullbacks. Lucas isint the answer either. We basically ask a **** load of our centre backs to do, Lovren had 2 very good dms in front of him last season, now he has Gerard, chalk and cheese. Saying we should bring in a defensive coach too is an incredibly simplistic way of looking at things too.

    Cavalieri
    Darby Agger Skrtel Insua
    Maschcerano Aquilani
    Benayoun Gerrard Dossena
    Kuyt

Our starting XI the last time we were in the CL and included, a picture of Raheem Sterling around the same time, a 14 year old trainee at QPR. How times have changed.

Just looked at the goal again.

My final conclusion is that if Mignolet stayed on his line the guy wouldn't have scored.

Lovren was edging him further right with Henderson coming in behind covering him.

Mignolet rushing out made it easy for the player to get the shot away early.

    I blame the keeper! :)

Henderson was in midfield. It was Manquillo who was covering across.

I wonder would Joe Allen be the longer term solution there? His first few games for Liverpool were in that role.

Not brilliant defensively but capable and intelligent. Excellent passer of the ball also.

We are incredibly naiive. We need to develop a bit of cynicism in our play. It's time we learned to park the bus. Or at least park the minibus.
I actually thought we showed it in the first half - we committed some very stupid fouls around midfield in the first half and I felt it was to stop them breaking.

Lallana the most memorable one where his man was getting away and he took him down blatantly

At 1-0 up in our first champs league game in years, with minutes to go you'd like to think that we'd have the collective intelligence to get 2 banks of 4 behind the bloody ball. The only player who had any busy being further fwd should have been Balotelli.

    Basic stuff.

Particularly in Europe where we will get easily picked off.

The Steve Gerrard song being belted out at Stamford Bridge.

Always find it strange that fans feel the need to sing about a player or a club that's not related to the game they're at.

    Mario-and-LuckyJPG.jpg
Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has shown his kind hearted side after appearing to have made a generous donation to Manchester Dogs’ Home.

The striker is thought to have given a five-figure sum to the home after 60 dogs were killed in a blaze a week ago today.

Staff at the charity suspect the dog-loving Italian is behind the generous handout and have revealed how the star previously volunteered for them during his time at Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Madcap Mario offered his free time walking abandoned dogs for the dogs’ home while his pet pooch was in quarantine in Italy ahead of a move to Manchester.

And an anonymous donation made via the Manchester Evening News’ Justgiving page has now piqued the curiosity of charity bosses, who are now investigating whether the newly-acquired Liverpool striker is the benefactor.

    So he might not have!

I expect the Mirror to change this into a story where he visited one of the beleaguered dogs, kicked its head clean off and posed for a selfie with his trophy.

Watched the match during a lecture last night. Missed first goal - then Balo picks up the ball, drives forward to edge of box, shifts and lets a beauty fly...he must have got the goal I assume - confidence coursing through his veins. That's the type he is, he will be just fine

Hendo made every other player look ****e when it came to pressing. He is an amazing player with so much athletic energy. Well deserved new responsibilities. But back to first line - work ethic needs to come up to Jordan's level for a lot of the other players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭plannerscanner

Last point - too many straight line balls down the sides of the CB's over the past 180 mins have been allowed - that will always show that CB's are slower than CF's. Our No. 8 needs to get to grips with his defensive responsibilities ASAP. Moreno not at fault last night for equalizer - his job is to advance in LFC system. Gerrard expected to drop into the middle and allow one or other CB to squeeze attacking space out wide.

Pressing? We don't really. Watched Dortmund vs Arsenal - that's how you press.

The match saps will be back, it has been prophesied that the chosen sap will one day return from the forbidden zone. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms, back in the days of last season the traveller came as a large and posting Turd.

And with people criticising Moreno for the goal, if our full backs don't push on we don't get penalties in injury time.

Chelsea draw at home to Schalke, Arsenal lose to Dortmund away, City lose to Munich away and one of the lads who supports United said Eastenders wasn't great the last two nights.

    Liverpool with a win.

Why would we need a penalty in the 90th minute when 1-0 up?

You can't blow the league in one game.

Having a record of W15 D3 L1 over the 2nd half of the season isn't blowing it. It's utter insanity.

We lost the league when we dropped almost half the pts available in the first half of the season.

Ya.......Arsenal top of the league in Feb, 8 points clear of LFC arrived at Anfield.....they didn't blow it.

Manchester United non defense of their title.....they didn't blow anything.

Chelsea drawing with Norwich, beaten by Sunderland and Crystal palace in the run in to the title. That wasn't blowing it either.

Liverpool W12 D1 L1 in the last 14 games blew it.

Not a bad start for liverpool.
    Chelsea - Drew at home.
    Arsenal - hammered away.
    City - Beaten again.
Utd - Alfie set fire to the house with Kat in it.

Why would we need a penalty in the 90th minute when 1-0 up?

It cuts both ways, the full backs pushing on cost us a goal and lead to a penalty as well. A more mobile defensively minded midfield could have stopped the goal being coincided and mig should have stayed on his line. Or at least left it a bit later.
I was just thinking that. Moreno was getting unfair criticism.

    LOAN WATCH (mini edition)

J Ibe - last 20 for Derby in 2-3 away win
B Smith - 85 mins for Swindon in 2-2 home draw
J C Teixeira - 75 mins and an assist for Brighton in 3-2 away defeat (that's 2 goals and 2 assists I think since he joined)

He's getting deserved criticism. It doesn't cut both ways, there is a huge difference between pushing on when drawing in a game that is game can't really afford not to win and pushing forward when 1-0 already. It's simple basic in game intelligence.
