Hi, just applied to do a conversion course in this next year.

I had initially applied to do software design and development at NUIG but didn't get accepted unfortunately due to high application numbers.

So, computer science or "science in computing" at GMIT.
Anyone here have any familiarity or knowledge with this course?

It's a 90 credit course, as oppose to the 60 credit NUIG option.

Any idea how the two courses would compare, how each of the degrees are regarded in terms of employment potential etc?

From what I understand, delivery of the courses differs slightly in the IT as oppose to University option, in that the IT approach incorporates more lab time and one on one time with tutors, where as Uni gives more scope for self development.

    Any info would be great.

lol - good time to bump the thread.

I pulled my application last minute so, been sat on my hands for the year.

I'm interested to hear the responses also.

Been doing a few online java courses, and sh1t is hella challenging.
A full time course in this stuff and right into work in the industry; I can't imagine it's easy.
