I haven't, and the world is a better place for that.

Best I can tell, what's happening here is that people don't realise that they have "cloud photo backup" turned on, so all their photos are being backed up to iCloud pretty much as soon as they take them. . Or they know it's on but don't appreciate the consequences. Google has a similar facility on their Android OS too, and I have one of those, but I actually read the message, said "heck, no", and then went in to Settings and double-checked that it was indeed off.

People taking pictures of themselves naked is a fairly common thing and people are entitled to a degree of privacy, even famous people. If a famous person is sending naked pictures of themselves to someone, that's their business and no one else's. I don't think they really deserve to be humiliated over it, especially since that seems to be the primary goal of this kind of crap. Someone being famous doesn't really give any right to some asshole on 4chan or Reddit or whatever to violate their privacy.

I'm glad the guy has been identified. Too many people think they're safe behind a computer screen, not to mention the fact that they have way too much time on their hands to go around trying to catch celebrities out. Get a life.

I don't really think that the people who have been exploited in this are in any way to blame. People wanting to take pictures of their own body for their own possession or to share with a boy/girlfriend as part of an intimate relationship is their business and frankly it's pretty normal, and yet this idea that someone might take a naked picture of themselves and the impulse to shame those people is what seems to be fueling this whole "scandal".

The real scandal is that some person saw fit to hack into people's private property and take pictures that don't belong to them with the intention of spreading them all over the internet without the consent of the individuals involved.

If he has actually been identified, I doubt he'll get away with it. Pretty sure that kind of invasion of privacy is a crime. The people involved did not consent to that person taking possession of and publishing pictures of them. The guy who did it to Scarlett Johansson ended up getting a pretty big sentence.

I remember seeing an interview with the guy who created 4chan and he said he frequently hands over the IP addresses of people who are using the site to commit crimes. 4chan is really full of the weirdest people.

If this guy managed to get nude pics of some of the most famous celebrities in the world I highly doubt he'd leave his traceable information accessible to 4chan.
