Moving into Briarfield, don't have any internet... pretty essential for us... any recommendations price-wise?

We were thinking Magnet or UPC? Has anyone had any problems dealing with either of those... ideally we'd like to get it set up as quickly as possible and for it to be as cheap and as fast as we can make it.

My boyfriend is living out in Dooradoyle on co-op and has Magnet internet. It was the cheapest they could find. He is a gamer and is living with two other gamers and they have no connection problems or anything and the internet is very good. The wireless can be a bit slow by their standards sometimes, but the wired network is always perfect. They just contacted Magnet and got the little broadband box off of them and connected it up, as far as I know

UPC are great, just keep in mind that you'll have to pay it for a minimum of 12 months.

That's another thing with Magnet, you don't have to do the whole 12 month thing.

    Hi

Boards has a dedicated discussion on broadband providers, which will provide a lot of info on different providers and peoples opinions of them

    Here is the link.

    Cheers everyone.

UPC seems to be cheaper, but Magnet has the advantage of being able to go month-to-month rather than 12 months, when we'll only be there for 9 months.

However, Magnet has an initial fee of around €58, while UPC has none.

But for some reason, on the UPC website it's saying that broadband isn't available at our address in Briarfield.... seems fairly unusual.

You will be able to get UPC at your address, chances are there is already a modem there from last years students.
