I went to see him in Krakow last Friday. Thought it was a good gig, he seemed in top form, his voice was great and the band were tight.

Only problem was I got lost trying to find the venue and didn't arrive until after 8. I didn't think that would be an issue but he started at 7.30! As you can see from the setlist I missed some serious tunes. I was not happy.

Live and learn and all that....

    Taken from NME
Morrissey left the stage before finishing his gig in Essen, Germany earlier this week after members of the audience invaded the stage. Watch footage from the gig now.
Stage invaders are a common occurence at Morrissey gigs but an encore starting with
    'Every Day Is Like Sunday'
was cut short on Monday and the singer escorted off stage by security after a number of audience members made their way on to the stage.

The encore of the gig at the Colosseum Theatre in Essen started with Morrissey saying, "Thank you. I've had a really good time anyway and I'd like to say thank you. In the words of the greatest Germans, 'Remember me, forget my fate'" before starting to play the 1989 single. However, as the song began a number of people clambered onto the stage and security intervened.

This is the second time Morrissey has cut short a gig on his current European tour, having departed the stage mid-show after being heckled by a fan in Poland last week. According to event organiser Live Nation, Morrissey left because an audience member hurled "extremely offensive and chauvinistic" abuse at him.

I'm driving up from the sticks as well.

Where's the handiest place to park within walking distance of the venue?

Does anyone have any idea of how many tickets have been sold for this concert? I'm a big Morrissey fan, but I was very surprised when he announced that he would be playing the 3Arena. I have heard the rumours since of course that this is his swansong. But those rumours weren't circulating at the time the concert was announced, as far as I know...

I wouldn't be surprised if it sells out. Morrissey should have been playing arenas in Dublin long before now. There is a huge demand to see him here.

I agree that the shows in The Olympia haven't been enough to cater for the demand to date. But the 3Arena just seems like a massive step up. Tickets are well expensive for it too (don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and I'm going), and that just makes me wonder if the arena will be half empty. Still, it'll be a good night regardless!

Agreed. Tickets are rather expensive, but that's the norm lately.
Looking at ticketmaster, it looks like there are some tickets in a few of teh lower seating blocks.
I reckon the upper tier never went on sale, will probably be curtained off.
Standing tickets still available, but ground floor is quite large so not sure how many tickets have been sold.

Hope this will be a great night. Haven't seen him since 2006 (or was it 2007? can't remember).
Behave everyone yeah??? :D We don't want any incident like the ones in Poland and Germany!!!

I've long thought Dublin really needs a venue in between the Olympia and the Point in capacity. I'm missing out on the Manics Holy Bible show later in December but realistically they're not big enough for the 3Arena anymore.

Btw anyone tell me what the catering is like inside the 3Arena, I've only been there once before (Eddie Izzard). Can you get a burger or a hot dog (if Moz hasn't banned them from the venue!) and find somewhere to sit down and eat it outside the 'hall' itself (I've got a standing ticket).

There will 100% be no meat at the gig.

    confirmed?

According to a review of last night's London gig in the Guardian, people were actually being searched for meat products on their way in.

Morrissey never allows meat be sold at his gigs, so no chance of it tomorrow.

    I see
    Trouble Loves Me
was played in London. I will be over the moon if that's played tomorrow night, LOVE that song. Haven't seen it on other setlists though, so hope it wasn't a once off :/

Listening to Anna Calvi atm, she's really good. Think I'll be going in early to catch her set. Also I actually still haven't listened to World Peace.... at all (absolutely hated Years of Refusal so I wasn't exactly looking forward to the prospect of listening to it, esp when I heard from friends who are fellow Moz fans that they didn't like it at all). Sure we'll see how it sounds live, and might give it a whirl after the gig.

I've been refreshing the new album. Not his best, It has some great moments and some less so. It's quite long, nearly 80 minutes, if he had cut a few songs, I reckon it would have been a very solid album.
As The Guardian review says, it plays the new album heavily, but it is mostly the songs that I like, so I won't complain that much.

I will probably miss Anna Calvi, don't think I can be at the Point before 8.

Give it a few listens before the gig, he'll be playing a good few tracks from it. I think it's pretty good - much better than Years of Refusal. Kiss Me Alot should have gotten a single release (but then you'd need a record company for that!).

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

In fairness, from the set lists I have seen, it's the better songs off the new album that are getting aired

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,134 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Be in the auld 3 in few minutes hope everyone enjoys the gig!

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,538 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Hitting off in a couple of minutes. The absence of a cloakroom at the 3Arena means I've gone with a hoodie and polo-neck in a bid to hit the sweet spot between drowning in my own sweat at the gig and contracting pneumonia on the way...

Someone please I'm having an emergency. I've to print the tickets, but it's saying there's a problem on ticketmaster with the processing, I viewed the tickets earlier but didn't print them. All customer service numbers are closed, can someone help or point me in the right direction!
